Sorry you've been ill, just concentrate on getting what you need to last for a few days. Sounds like you have a lot on your plate at the moment... don't throw the string away. You always need string!

ravylesley - little tip, might help might not. before u do a big declutter and get rid of anything. just remove it from kitchen and put it in the shed. and if say after 6 month u have still not used the bits then get rid.
i did this , as i was conviced i wasn't gonna use certain item's. but i found i was very grateful of the fact i didn't get rid of off, as i needed an item a couple months later. the things i then didn't use went on free cycle.
Also i have the french stick tin, and it isn't any bigger than a baking tray. i got mine on ebay , as although the tray was slightly dear the postage was cheaper than amazon so i did save money , because at the time i didn't need to buy anything else from amazon.
lollyred1 ~ My hubbys's nan told us the weather was gonna get down to
-17 and heavy snow by thursday , friday. and it wills lowly get colder in jan , and in feb it is gonna be really really cold. AS much as the snow sounds wonderful. i live on the isle of wight. so snow is very rare. when it does it doesn't usually lay . but even 1 mm of snow the whole island grinds to a halt , lol. i've seen pics tho of 20 years ago , when the lane down road from me was full to the top of snow , so lets hope somethign happens.
i did join the winter thread , did the duvet's on beds , throws on beds , etc. but never got roudn to buying candles or anything. although do have a bag of tea lights and lots of torches.but we do have a gas cooker and heating.( think i gettign a bit carried away now, lol)
:rotfl:
Mollymop5 ~ if im lucky enough to get a tray of mushrooms ( it works out about 2 or 3 carrier bags full) from local veg shop reduced to 50p :T i often buy them, and i just simpley slice and freeze. then i can use them as needed. i do find tho they go more mushier and browner than usual when cooked. by then still taste the same.0 -
as asked for by lil'me.
Beef n bean pie. basically like a shepards pie , but with baked beans and sliced pot's for the topping. got this from easy cook maga couple years back.
2 onions , chopped
2 tbsp sunflower oil
500g lean minced beef
2 tbsp worcestershire sauce
2 tbsp tomato ketchup
1 veg stock cube
i mug water ( recipe doesn#t say the quanity of water so i used a medium size mug)
750g potato's ( thickly sliced , no need to peel)
415g can abked beans ( i used a tin of tesco value )
85g grated cheese ( i did use a little more tho, i used 100g as i love cheese)
1) fry the chopped onions in oil , until softened about 5 mins. then increase heat and add the mince. cook for 5 mins until all cooked . stir all time. stir in worcestershire sauce , ketchup and veg stock cube. Pour in the mug of water and brign to the boil. once boiled , reduced heat and cover, allow to simmer for 5 min's.
2) Meanwhile boil the potatos for about 12 mins until tender. Turn on grill . stir the beans into the mince and heat through. tip into a 2.5 litre over proof disha dn cover with slices of the the potato. sprinkle with grated cheese and grill until golden.
ALthough recipe says to grill, i put mine in oven on gas mk 8 for 10 mins. Turned out lush.
Hope u enjoy this as much as we did. and my kids who asked for seconds. :T0 -
Mushroom stroganoff? do you have a recipe please?
Not a recipe as such, I can tell you what I do, but I cook this very much by eye! Chop an onion and crush two garlic cloves and fry, add sliced mushrooms, salt & pepper. Use more mushrooms than you think because they cook down a lot. Once the mushrooms are fried gently to a nice colour, add 1 tbs tomato puree, and veg stock. the tom puree should thicken it up, if you think it needs more use cornflour & water. Add in about half a large tub of double cream and creole seasoning. (I think it should really be paprika here, but I have a LOT of creole seasoning!!)
If you leave ot the onion and stock from this you have creamed mushrooms which are yummy on toast, or for vol au vents.0 -
Just read this review on Amazon...
It can't be non stick if it rusts! I bought two of these French bread pans in the hope that my bread would have that characteristic bobbled base and a crispy top. From that point of view it worked. (Two stars) Good bread that looked more authentic than baked on a tray. I put the bread pans in the dishwasher on the quick wash (29 mins at about 85 degrees) gave them a quick wipe and put them away. The following day I noticed that there was rust on both of the pans on the inside of the holes. I spent some time cleaning off the rust and oiling the pans. Guess what happened the next time I used them? I had a lovely orange base to my bread. The pans rusted again after cleaning this time with soapy water in the sink. Poor build quality has let this product down.
But I am really interested in gettingthese as my DD doesn't like breadmaker bread(don't go there!) but she loves baguettes and would probably eat these but if they are going to go rusty then I don't want to waste my money.
Any ideas??0 -
furrypig , i've used mine 4 or 5 times and there are no signs of rust.
I have put it in dishwasher once. but tbh. there is no need. it doesn't get dirty. it only has a bit of flour on. so all it needs is a quick wash under the tap. and i leave to dry on the drainer, or i put it back in the oven while oven still warm to make sure it fully dry before it goes into the cupbaord.0
