Hi there everyone
Just wanted to pop on and say, what fun im having following this thread
Just like thriftlady.... i spent the weekend checking what i had in - and have now drawn up 6 weeks of meal plans - all out of food i have made up and frozen up since being here! we have only been here 3 months, and i have made a conscious effort not to stockpile food like we are about to be sieged,
The problem (well my excuse) is that here the supermarkets sell a lot of veg etc in large amounts much cheaper than smaller amounts- 3kilo of carrots about 75p, 4 huge cabbages in a net (10kilos) for about £2.25 - so i buy them that way and blanch and freeze them. I even get my apples in 5kilos - in a bucket
So apart from a bit of extra veg/milk im planning on buying as little as possible.... i can see this months housekeeping going into a savings pot
Keep up the good work D&DD.... loving this thread-6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50 -
Hi All, Just wanted to pop in and say hi - am not well at the minute, some dreaded tummy bug so keeping anything in or down is hard and my DS aged 3 has a similiar problem - we are going through nappies like there is no tomorrow (5 in one night must be a record) so the food bill isnt suffering to much and just had a message off bf saying hes in work not feeling well now so none of us are really eating. Hope everyone on the thread is ok and look forward to catching up soon. Love Sam x x xTime to find me again0

Well my brains a bit fried and in that warm classroom I did struggle in the afternoon to keep my eyes open
Worth going though as the man running the workshop has actually 'done a Hugh Fearnley Wotsit' and downshifted to a farm etc etc ...spent break and lunch chatting happily about gardens, dexter cattle, various other livestock and the joys of MSE
The day was great as it was a real eye opener in approaches to our kids, made a lot of sense..:T

Just popped in to say 'Thanks' to Kethry for her apple braid recipe.
I am now experimenting with different fillings.
What's worked well so far is:
Spread chutney on to the rolled out dough and then sprinkle liberally with grated cheese, prior to plaiting.
Yum!0
