Your right there, I can't believe how much I used to throw away. When your in the supermarket, you fancy everything you see and the fact that there's not enough time to get through all the food before the sell-by date doesn't cross your mind.

Since becoming debt free I am really starting to appreciate how much savings can be made.

Am so proud of my shopping bill this week that I've decided to join the February grocery challenge. As I said I normally spend £100 per week but this week only spent £34. My aim is to cut my grocery shop by half so I'm going to try not to spend more that £200 this month.

Got absolutely nothing plan ned for today, other than lunch at mums. I filled in my details yesterday to find out if I've got any money owing to me from the millions of dormant bank accounts that the government are threatening to close and use the money from. I don't think for one moment that there's any money out there for me, but who knows?

I still haven't put the £43 cheque into the ISA. Can't for the life of me find my paying in book :( so I've had to request another one. As soon as that arrives I'll be putting the money towards the February target.

Going to make my chicken fried rice this afternoon and freeze it so that I can use it for lunch at work. Am going to also cook some of the sausages that are lurking in the freezer. Am sure I can think of something to go with them for tea tonight.

Saved another £10 with mum today so that's £50 I've got towards Christmas 2008, not bad for me.

Hello huni...that is brilliant with your shopping bill. It shows doesn't it how the supermarkets are all set up in a way to take the pennies from us. But you are resisting. Well done. Hope you're well and DD is okay too.
I've definately noticed the difference with writing my shopping list. I do throw the odd extra in but nothing like I used to...it was all thrown in at one time :D
Have a good week GR, keep up the great work.

Thanks Diz, by keeping a diary on here is certainly making me more motivated. It's like big brother is watching me constantly. As long as I can keep my spirits up and not get down I should be OK. When I'm down I tend to spend more to cheer myself up!

Have set myself another task for February. Even though I'm debt free I do have a secured loan which I hate paying. Have decided that as I have enough equity in my house I'm going to see about borrowing more off the Halifax (current mortgage provider) and paying off the GE money secured loan. Am going to contact Halifax about this and see if there's a potential saving here. If it's only £50 per month it'll be something. Why didn't i think og this sooner? If they agree to this I aim to et it sorted before the next GE Money payment is due on the 1st March.

Hi GR, thats a great target to go for your so focussed, more so than me. I had a spending urge last night. I'm glad I locked myself in the house last night and only managed the corner shop. Spent wait for it .... £2. Not bad for a spending urge. Had one today but nothing spent lol! As for your shopping bill thats fab. We shop online and find we are not being tempted by all thats on offer. We stick to what we need. So far so good. I haven't been into Tesco for weeks lol!

    God I hate Mondays!!!!!!

Only got a spare 5 minutes this morning as we're off to clinic again...... Just looked onto internet banking and was hoping my quidco money was thre for withdrawal but it wasn't. Wanted to transfer it into ISA! Oh well maybe tomorrow. Have made packed lunch for work so I've started the week in good MSE fashion, lets hope it'll continue.

Don't expect much to happen today but I'll report back later.

Have a good day everyone x

Hi there Dizzy, this morning went quite well, we've been given the week off from clinic next week so things must be looking good.

Packed lunch wasn't too bad either, you know what they say - a hungry dog will eat anything. Have got some chicken fried rice defrosting for tomorrows lunch.

Got nothing new to report this afternoon, absolutely nothing has happened on the money front today. I get quite disappointed when I don't make any money!
