Kids keep leaving the lights on

Hi all
I need your tips please.
As the title says, my kids keep leaving the lights on around the house. We've just moved house so that may have something to do with it - they were pretty good at turning them off in the old one.
To save me having to go round the house checking and so I don't have to keep calling out "Liiighhhtssss" to them every time I find one ... :rotfl:
Does anyone do anything to remind the kids.. any visual clues... other than this big light shining down on them? :T
Thank you in advance!

A small treat at the end of the week if they remember to always turn ligts out.
If they fail, YOU get the treat!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
Depending on their ages, could you explain that turning lights off helps save our beautiful planet, lots of info around online

Or maybe explain the saving money side, how pennies make pounds and dock their pocket money 1p everytime they leave a light on ☺I am a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Wales, Small Biz MoneySaving, In My Home (includes DIY) MoneySaving, and Old style MoneySaving boards. Get a packet of sweets and tell them they can have any that are left at the end of the week, but that you are going to eat a sweet every time you find a light left on. They will soon turn the lights off when they see their sweets going down.Zebras rock0

We are big on environmental issues - they remind me I'm trying to reduce plastic use when I forget - so that may help too.
They get money for doing chores and the eldest loves finding ways to make money - funny that! - so I wonder if I could turn that into something money making.

A pile of coins could work just as well, especially if they are older. Basically anything they can physically see disappearing/reducing through out the week.Zebras rock0 -
Threatening to remove the bulb in her bedroom worked with my stepdaughter. I'm not sure how it would work for the rest of the house though.0

Re the sweets idea... go hard.
Start with a jar each of sweets. If you find a light switched on they have to sit and watch you eat a sweet from their jar.
If another child informs you about the light being left on and turns it off, THEY get to eat the sweet in front of the other child.
Of course, you might then have to deal with a child lying .... but a swift hand round the back of the legs usually works for that. Then you eat ALL their sweets... and the following week they don't even HAVE a jar of sweets.
