Stardrops are a miracle cleaner, they clean just about everything and they're quite cheap. One bottle cleans everything so there's no need to buy loads of different cleaning products. They make everything sparkle too!

Never take a sleeping tablet and a laxative on the same night?
Use cheap (really cheap) cola to clean your loo. Half a bottle down the pan, and then leave for an hour or so - comes up sparkly. Some days, it's just not worth chewing through the leather straps....

I keep a jug of made up squash in the fridge so there's always a nice cool drink available, no need to run the tap until it's cold and not tempted to drink any coke or other expensive soft drinks just because I'm too lazy to mix up the squash (yes, I really can be that lazy!)There is no issue so small that it can't be blown out of proportion0

I have been living frugally for a long time now; not cos I am especially badly off but more that I love to be economical and prefer the simple life.
Anyhow here are a few I can think of off the top of my head which let me scrimp on the pounds.
-value oats as a mainstay to have in the home- It's only like 47p per kilo of tesco porridge oats. Lukily I really like oats just plain with milk- not even made into porridge on their own. Lol this may be somewhat of an aquired taste for many tho. I do find I get fed up of that after 4 or 5 months however I just change to somehting else like shredded wheat for a couple of months and then my appreciation for good ol plain oats seems to return again.
-don't drink/smoke. One of the biggest money savers was stopping drinking as well as drugs and smoking in my earlier youth. This one is an easy no brainer for most people though following through and being consistent with it is another issue. I still go to the same places. It was uncomfortable for about 2 weeks (trying to think back as it was like 6-7 years that I stopped dirnking regualrly) not holding a drink then it seemed to evapourate after that and I didn't look back. This is economical in many ways outside of the money aspect- saving your health etc. It is also good for confidence building cos you aren't relying on a crutch to get into a certain mental state so makes you all the more resourceful in that sense.
-go to nights which are really cheap. I go mostly to nightclubs which have no cover charge or a small one. A medium cover charge doesn't even matter that much to me- say 5 pounds cos I know that plus my coat check of one pound will be the only expenditure I will be making that night.
-buy powdered milk. This stuff is great as it seems to last ages. I buy 454g of it from tescos for about 1.50 and 47 grams makes up like two pints of milk. I don't even know the average price of milk these days but I'm guessing it would be 1.50 to 2.00 quid just for about the same amount when I can get like 5 times that for 1.50. I initially did this cos I like to stock up on things I will eat regularly and cos milk goes off quick I wanted something that would last like my oats. Turns out it was also a good money saving thing.
-gym/excercie at home. Buying weights wil be a fairly large expenditure to begin with but after that those weights will last. Also there are easy routine to do without gym equipment but after awhile you will want to add weights. This still works out way better than paying hundreds per year for gym memberships. Most people I know who go to gym say they do for ridiculous reasons such as 'I like it for the social aspect' when they end up not even talking to anyone when they are there.
Those are a few I could think of off the top of my head. If people like them I will try and think of some more.
I've just got some good info off this site so thought I'd make at least a small effort to give a lil back.0 -
I like.
Tried training at home instead of gym but found it hard to motivate myself. Will try and buy some weights and a cheap treadmil / rowing machine for next yr
