Great Tips... one liners

My favourite tip I've picked up here is freezing sandwiches! Before I used to either buy bread/sandwich stuff and not use it in time so then it'd go moudly and have to be thrown away, or I wouldn't make sandwiches for my husband in time for him to go to work, so he'd have to buy stuff at work costing over £2 each day!
I'm a money wasting expert.

As a relative newbie myself, I have found this site great, firstly I have been turning my under par crop of tomatoes into a tomato sauce that will go with my bolognase and chillies, secondly loving my banana cakes with my over ripe bananas, thirdly loving the fact that I now bulk up my mince beef recipes with whatever is to hand (my glut of courgettes were introduced into my normal lasagna recipe this week giving me over 16 portions for £3 of mince :j and still tasted lovely!).
Thank you all and I'm still enjoying learning even more!!

Mine is to use HALF wherever possible.... Shampoo (u actually don't need a whole head full of bubbles, just enough to cleanse the hair), conditioner, shower gel (no i don't smell!), washing powder, dw powder etc... Its the same as getting 6 months worth of these products for free every year!
Second is white vinegar... Better than anything I have ever bought for cleaning windows and mirrors, use it for cleaning everything and as washing softener0 -
wrapping celery in tinfoil and putting it in the drawer of my fridge. it lasts for ages and as i live alone i get to use every bit.Just before I went on holiday I chopped the last few sticks up and bagged them up in my freezer for use in casseroles in the winter .Nothing gets binned in my house0

Squishing loo rolls so people use less, then using the innerds as firelighters, it has become a competition to see who can get most cardboard rolls inside a cardboard roll!
Mooncup is win on so many levels.
Batch freezing things I didnt know batch froze, but have saved me so much time, effort and money!I will pay jexygirl the compliment of saying that she invariably writes a lot of sense!0 -
Mine is Stardrops! It is now my favourite ever cleaning product. And I can't wait to try making Turkish Delight now I've found out I can. Just waiting on my sugar thermometer from Amazon and October to arrive so I can buy some rose water from next month's GC budget.Must get organised and rejoin grocery challenge!0

It's hard to say what is my favourite tip as i have used so may since joining that some of them i do now without thinking. Since joining this forum, I cook differently, clean differently and basically have a whole different life. I am the girl who left home not knowing how to boil peas and only bought ready meals....and now i grow my veg, cook it, store and preserve it.
I think the biggest thing i have learnt from the oldstyle forum is how to live a 'simple life' and enjoy it. No longer am i caught in the 'rat race' of life and no longer do i try and keep up with the 'Jones'. My DD's do not crave designer clothes etc and are learning to grow and cook for themselves. Saturday teatimes are no longer takeaway nights but a lovely homemade pizza with a homemade cake and a board game round the table for us all....and the funny thing is i've noticed that some of my family keep turning up now to join in, so i do believe they are enjoying this simple part of our life.
I am so proud of the way we live on just one wage now and i'm so proud of how my DD's are growing up, also enjoying this simple life.
So I say 'thank you' a million times over to this forum!0 -
My favourite tip is cooking once and eating twice, also Weezl's recipes are brilliant and also using up food and not binning it, meal planning....I could go on for ever! Thanks everyone.
