  • Use the net bags that washing tablets come with to hold a small bar of soap, this can be for use in the shower or if you tie to your outdoor tap you can wash the worst of the garden soil off your hands before you come in the house
  • Use a skirt hanger (the ones with 2 clips) to hold scarves, fold free, in the wardrobe
  • You can kill ants by pouring boiling water on their nest or sprinkling cayenne pepper on their runs
If I screw my eyes up tight I can just about see where you're coming from
  • I heard about this but as I haven't tried it so I can't recommend it personally, it seems do-able though

Paint your skirting boards sitting on a skateboard...sounds like fun
  • If you are marinading meat, it's easy to do if you put the marinade and meat in a freezer bag, it keeps the mess and smell down plus you can massage the flavours into the meat

When defrosting meat, the process can be sped up by placing the meat on a metal surface - eg a frying pan, roasting tray - rather than a plate. The frying pan allows much faster heat transfer and you can cook in the same thing, saving washing-up!
  • A traditional floormop works as a plunger in an emergency, I have used this in an, ahem, unfortunate toilet situation, I haven't tried it on a sink but if you stood on a stool it might work
  • If you are knitting 2 small identical things such as childrens sleeves you can knit them both together, it saves having to think about the shaping stitches twice over and you know that they will be the same length
If I screw my eyes up tight I can just about see where you're coming from

Black pepper on strawberries is supposed to make them taste much more strawberry-y. Be brave and try it!
