(Though you need to use more electric/gas to boil it up properly each time - for food safety reasons - so not sure whether this works out cheaper than heating up from scratch on Economy 7, or not.)
I guess that would only work for people with electric cookers as gas is instant on/off and doesn't retain any heat when it's switched off."An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will"

I hate using electricity to cook on, but I haven't got a choice at the moment. I'm slowly getting used to it.

If using a pressure cooker to "quick soak" beans, lock the lid and as soon as it comes up to pressure, turn the heat off. The pressure will be retained for the few minutes that you would generally be boiling the beans for. Leave them in the pan, for an hour, as normal.0

This sounds so obvious but it really saves money - instead of buying books join your local library. I used to think I was saving money by buying books online, in supermarkets etc only for them to sit on my shelf and eventually be carted off to the charity shop. I don't mind at all not having the book to keep, and the library had loads of copies of all the best sellers so you never have to wait.0
