Hi I just like to know the minimum amount of days notice I can give them.

Yes I had an independent inspection from the city council and they stated it failed on couple of building regulations.

Told the window company about these failures and their response is they wanted more more money to sort out those failures to comply with building regulations.

Feel like I am getting nowhere so just seeking clarification on how many days notice minimum I can give them?

If you're thinking of suing them for a return of the deposit, then the traditional time is 14 days.

If you're thinking of claiming under Section 75, then that's between you and the credit card company.

If you want them to finish off the job, then you're in trouble. It looks like all trust between you and them has broken down. They will naturally expect that even if they do complete the job, then you won't pay them.

Is any of the communication in writing, or just verbal? If it's not written, you have no proof that anybody said anything.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.

I’ve just spent a bit of time looking through those pics and most of the gaps are underneath or on the head, this happens a lot. Also big gaps at the sides of the bay, very common. I think you are worrying over nothing. I’ve seen loads worse. I fitted the windows to my house with gaps like that. You haven’t even got plasterboard on the inside cills lol Once you’ve replastered and sorted your internal cills it won’t matter.

Don’t forget your house is old and the brickwork on your house is awful, the plastering and decoration from the pics is awful too. If you are worried about thermal efficiency you’ve probably got more heat going through your brickwork than through your new A rated gas filled deceuninck windows.

It’s no good laymen people on here saying ‘yes the gaps look big’ and then you deciding to confront the company quoting all these rules and regulations and thus making them realise you’re a messer and then they are requesting money from you because they think you won’t pay.

The bit about Foam warping the windows is a load of !!!!!! as well as the type of foam to use. Foam is foam. It simply expands around something, it doesn’t push against it. If there is somewhere for it to flow it won’t warp anything. When it’s trimmed up outside and in it stays there forever.

Pay them the next stage payment and get the rest fitted, you are worrying over nothing trust me.

when they are all fitted, sealed and trimmed, they will look great.

This a weak willed and almost pointless approach. You were told on this forum where to seek help, and this together with an implication to the standard of help you needed. If your only interest is Building Regulations then you are sending a clear message to the window company. That message is you have no interest in any concept of quality, be this surveying, manufacturing or installation. In turn the window company will have pigeon holed you as a complete idiot, who is half hearted, at best, in their approach to issues.

No wonder you are in a mess. You have brought this upon yourself so I leave it to you to find a way out.

My intentions are not just building regulations it is overall the problems I mentioned in this thread.

Well I have to inform them about the building regulations failures results as I cant just cant keep quiet about it risking my safety. So you will keep quiet about it?

Selling unsafe windows to customers makes me half hearted or them?

No I did not bring this on myself as I thought by getting a window company with credentials such as Fensa instead of employing cowboys without credentials.

    Mostly in writing.

I am obliged to the contract to pay on completion to a satisfactory fashion. Regarding the breakdown of trust thats their fault.

As a window company yourself you just interested in getting paid from the customers ignoring any issues raised from the customer? Your response is biased or unbiased?

Ok so if I come on the next 10 jobs with you you will do and those gaps and safety regulation fails and say it's normal at the end of it

What regulations did the inspector say they didn't comply with?

They can change the hinges no problems and retrofit the vents without taking the windows out. Did you request vents?
