Nectar "Treats"

  • I finally got an email for my "fantastic Nectar treat". Its for a free gym pass at a gym in South Shropshire. In Ludlow, to be precise, southwest of Birmingham. I live north of Manchester.

Surely they must have made a mistake? How could they possibly think I would make a five hour round trip, not including actually being at the gym, just to use a free gym pass? It would cost me a lot less to go to my local gym and pay to use it for the day, and have a personal trainer!

    I give up.
  • Section 4 of terms and conditions which you all accepted in order to claim your free treat;
    1. TLC Marketing reserves the right to offer an alternative 'Free Treat' of equal value should a chosen 'Free Treat' become unavailable.

Interesting how you have 4 posts - all in support of Nectar...

This whole 'treat' offer is a joke. I have not seen one person receive the treat that they asked for, and the majority got 'treats' that they were unable to use.

And frankly I'm glad Nectar were named and shamed on Watchdog - they deserved it.

Whether it's free or not is irrelevant. Nectar is a reward card, representing a large supermarket chain. This 'treats' offer gained them free publicity across the internet, on many freebie websites and forums. It appears this whole thing was a huge publicity stunt to gain Nectar members, which probably worked in the short run, but now hopefully people will realise what has happened.

I did receive my first choice of treat - a back massage. We stay in a smallish town in Scotland, wonder if this has anything to do with it? We received the voucher quite quickly and used it in January. In fact, I put the voucher in my OH's name even though it was my name on the nectar card and they never even asked to see the card at the salon. Very lucky me thinks compared to all of the comments above...
  • Ditto, ditto, ditto.......

HOWEVER - I phoned instead of emailing......and was told to ring again on a Saturday morning, when new vouchers would be available.
I originally got the blasted 'day out treat', when I'd asked for a facial.....after much phoning and complaining,I have finally got my voucher for a facial. However, the venue I requested is no longer doing it, so I will have to travel miles to get the treat.
If I add up the cost of all the phone calls and travelling and aggravation.....I don't think it will be much of a treat anymore......

    What are you? A stalker!!
If you read through this board you will see that there are people whom have received their free treat.

    Emphasis to FREE

I received my free treat no problem.

You only get them if you already had a card, so wasn't really a stunt to get new members.

If want your treat so much, why don't you pay for it!!!!

Daydreamerine - I simply clicked to check your other posts and was making a casual observation - sorry if I've offended you in some way, it just seemed strange that your only contribution to this forum has been posts such as the one above.

I have read through the board - people have received treats - yes - but mainly gym passes to gyms located several miles away from their home. That woman on Watchdog would have had to pay hundreds just to visit the gym she got a pass for!

I believe there are people in this thread who joined Nectar simply after hearing about this offer. One of them posted just before I did. :rotfl:

I don't care about my treat it's the principle!

Nectar are perfectly aware of how many members they have, if they didn't have enough 'treats' to satisfy at least a large proportion of their members they shouldn't have bothered at all!

  • Are you aware that these companies that offer the free treats are not being paid to do them. They are on a contract with TLC in order to try and create themselves new custom.

Most companies are now pulling out on their contracts with them as they are sick of Nectar customers calling to lose them even more money.

I think you will find that TLC are most to blame here as they offered Nectar something they thought they could deliver but ended up letting everyone down.

i refer to my previos point that if you call the helpline and complain they will offer you goodwill
