Nectar "Treats"

  • I have had a similar experience with nectar treats, they sent me a free gym session instead of the whitewater rafting day I asked for - I know they cannot always send you what you ask for, but they could at least have sent me something similar. It seems a lot of people have also been disappointed - I am e-mailing Watchdog (BBC). All those of you who have also been given the CHEAPER option please do the same. I feel I have been cheated and I would like what I asked for or at least something similar.
  • I think it's a scam to get extra visitors for Days Out. Everyone I know, regardless of what they asked for has got Day Out for 1. I told them to keep it.

I dont even think it's just about offering a cheaper treat. I think it's about profitering, i.e Days out most likely will encourage whole families to go, Gym vouchers will probably mean people dont want to go alone and will pay for a partner to tag along.

yes its automatically done if u alreadt have one. Think its a waiting game, i've had a nectar card for years and only got my new one yesterday, so guess they are sending them out VERY slowly

I'm not posting to cause a row...............But I must step in to defend nectar a bit.

They make an offer to give you something just for being a member, now they know how many members they have. But they also know not everyone wil take them up in it (like myself). But how are they supposed to work out how many members will want to do each?

The simple answer is they can't. And they can't say to a company we want to offer this treat, you may get 3 million people or you may get none - what price can you give me? It just doesn't work.

So someone will end up with a choice they did not want.

Nectar just try and give everyone something.

They don't know if you not willing to travel a few miles

What do you expect from such a large free offer

you are not going to get a personal service

So if you get something you can use............good for you

At the end of the day What Have You Lost ???

Now I shall sit and wait for the knifes to come flying in (even if it is just for my spelling)

  • No one forced Nectar to run this disappointing promotion. If they cannot predict customers' reactions then obviously they have not heard of market research or they just do not treat us very seriously.

The simple rule is - do not offer what you cannot deliver. Nectar could have offered everyone a free lollipop but they did not.

Answering your question - "what have we lost ?" - confidence in Nectar, time to read and chose their treats, money to call them.

If this was a school project run by a few teenagers that went wrong no hard feelings. But these are the pros who run it to collect data and make us spend more money in their outlets.

No one forced you to take part either

If you had read the T&C's I bet there was a disclamer to cover this

Everyone who has applied has got something

And who made you call them ?? only your greed

If you don't like it stop using Nectar or don't take part again

It's only spilt milk not gold dust

  • Loyalty programs like Nectar are about keeping customers happy and special - so they will spend more money in future.

Nectar failed to keep people happy by:

    - targeting them with this promotion,
    - raising their expectations with a lot of nice treats to choose from,
    - not delivering either 1st or 2nd choices but just random treats

I do not agree that "Everyone who has applied has got something". If you get something you have neither requested nor you are interested in this is in fact...nothing for you.

You are right that this has been covered by a disclaimer in T&Cs but as I said loyalty programs are not about catches, gotchas and disclaimers they are about creating positive vision of brands and making customers feel special.
