It's been organised by the best friend of the bride. I was told the bride asked for something appropriate for all she wanted to invite.
    Future MIL and the like.

I don't want to go into too much detail in case this gets back to the organiser, you never know who is on here but shes upset by the attitude of the best friend and doesn't want to upset the bride by saying anything.
The bride is upset she isn't going and she's told her she can't go because of work. That's another thing it's on a work night and local to the bride but not my relative.

She said that if someone else wants to take her place it would be good to get her deposit back(she's just started work and on a very low wage ) but understands completely if that's not possible.

This jumped out at me. Do people generally ask permission to go somewhere from their husband?

Would a wife expect to be asked in the same circumstances?

I expect there would be many who would be miffed if they weren't.

Let's hope the bride's best friend knows that the bride's future MIL will be comfortable with a burlesque-type show - or something even more risque.
  • I don't understand why a hen party would be booked somewhere that there was scantily clad women....surely that's more for a stag party 😮😮

I don't think the OP has said that it's scantily clad women (but I might be wrong).

Burlesque usually is women, although Boylesque is a thing.

Mostly people go because it's about art and cabaret and entertainment, not to get their rocks off looking at some naked flesh.

Well I would ask my wife - or in this case I wouldn't as she would not be happy with me going (nor would I want to), she would feel the same if she was invited to that sort of thing.
Then again we are one entity rather than 2 people living in the same house. Maybe its our age.

Whereas neither my husband nor I would be bothered if one of us wanted to go to a hen/stag party like this. We trust each other so have no need to stop the other doing things. Each to their own I guess☺

Not a matter of trust, more of respect for the others feelings but as you say each to their own.

I've certainly never heard of burlesque involving men.
