Personally, some time should be spent ont he posters who constantly harass him here.
i have never seen him go out of line, and he never advertising his services.
I am disgusted at those who reported him for removal.0 -
Shocking decision from clearly clueless admins.
The value in these forums comes from people like DunstonH who have contributed to the benefit of thousands if not tens of thousands of visitors.
MSE will be a far, far worse place without him.Thinking critically since 1996....0 -
Hi All,
Due to the level of activity and length of membership in the forum, the decision to ban / PPR (Posting Privileges Removed) Dunstonh has been escalated to MoneySavingExpert.com Editor-in-Chief Jason Mills to be reviewed.
Matt, thank you for giving us this news, which is extremely welcome.
However, as welcome as this news is, I find the implication rather disturbing that if dunstonH had (to pluck some figures out of thin air) a mere 2 years and 3,000 posts on the forums, MSE would refuse to review his ban.0 -
Just to add my support to what others have said. As long term MSEer who joined the site just before dunstonh, I have found him by far the most useful poster on these Forums. His help has been invaluable to many other users of the forums. I am totally 'gobsmacked' he's been PPr'd after years of service to this site.0

Hi All,
Due to the level of activity and length of membership in the forum, the decision to ban / PPR (Posting Privileges Removed) Dunstonh has been escalated to MoneySavingExpert.com Editor-in-Chief Jason Mills to be reviewed. We realise his time and activity on the forum has helped many but we need to be sure forum rules are kept and met by all. We hope to have a decision about his posting privileges soon.
If I were in Dunstonh's shoes I'd be telling you where you could shove your "escalation". What sort of place punishes loyalty and promotes scam companies? This one it would seem.Pants0 -

I lurk rather than post on these boards, but I've found Dunstonh's posts so informative and helpful. As a complete ignoramus about pensions, I've learnt loads from him and other regular posters. I hope he's reinstated and wishes to return."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Thanks too from me for dunstonh - I've learnt (sometimes with some reluctance!) an awful lot about pensions and other issues from his posts.
Hope MSE re-instate him, but wouldn't be surprised if he declines to come back.
Being banned in the first place implies bad judgement by MSE Forum control, both re dunstonh and re the company he is (alleged) to have upset. MSE need to know, and demonstrate they know, which is the right side to take.
In my view the forum hasn't been the same for some time now (it lost a lot of sparkle and life following the MSE sell-off) but it still functions well enough for many very useful discussions. But bannings like this shake one's faith in the whole concept - and could trigger further loss of input.0 -
I simply can't understand why a site would ban a poster who demonstrates each time he posts - such integrity.
A poster who shows such understanding and demonstrates such knowledge when replying to those who need help. Dunstanh's depth of knowledge never ceased to amaze me - absolutely astonishing.
Shame on those who issued the ban .....0 -

I'll say no more..0
