  • I have to be honest Kathrynha I can cope with being sick but being nauseous gets me everytime.

If ginger helps have you tried ginger tea - either bags or homemade? I used to drink just boiled water and was wondering if you put grated ginger in one of those old fashioned tea holders (sorry not describing it very well!) whether the flavour would infuse into the water & then it would be a double whammy with the ginger making you feel less nauseous & getting your water in!

Had my trusty old favourite beef stew with ginger & pak choi last night & tried broccoli rice for the first time as cauliflower rice really does nothing for me. Wasn't too bad but nothing special

Also had one of the carrot cake bars - again it was nice but I can't see why people in my group are going mental over them.

Hubby is out tonight so I'm defrosting a chilli and will have the other half of the broccoli rice with it.

btw has anyway tried the new oats so simple that are a heb? tried to get a packet but asda was sold out - could be the new ww wraps!

I talk about this all the time and I don't know if suitable for you, but I like to have an Options hot chocolate (or even two!) on an evening as a treat. It's really sweet and chocolatey and satisfying, and lasts a long time as obviously it's hot so you can only sip at it. Only two syns each.

How many syns are the ginger sweets? I hate to think of you feeling sick for the sake of SW :(

    Chocolate bad :cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry:

The ginger sweets are I reckon 1.5 syns each, although they are teeth breakingly hard, so they do last a while. Going to try and get ginger in other ways.

Was planning on trying ginger tea again. Just I need about 3 sweeteners to make it at all palatable.

Hadn't thought about doing it homemade. I have a tea duck at home that I could try putting grated ginger in it. Thanks I will give it a try, although I will probably get accused of stinking out the office again

Finally got a start date for my new job: Monday 13th! Need to get my thinking cap on for packed lunches.

Good luck with the new job. Will you have any cooking/heating facilities?

  • Oh ginger tea is a good call! I often have the Twinings lemon and ginger one in the winter, it's a bit tart but I quite like that!

Don't know yet, so will plan on wraps/cold pasta for the first few days and maybe invest in a food flask if not. I'm more concerned about the lack of parking at the mo - it's a town centre location and the nearest car park is £3.50 a day! For that price it'd be cheaper to get the bus, but I can't bear the general public, so it's a tough choice! :rotfl:

I will have a look at that Twinings tea. Just don't like any with liquorice in, and a lot of fruit teas do. Last ginger tea I had was an Aldi special.

Pasta salad, rice salad and couscous salad are all good, along with SW quiche if you have no heating facilities.
Some naked noodle flavours are free too and all you need is a kettle. They don't have speed, but are an easy option occasionally.

£3.50 a day is cheap for parking. £7 for cheapest around here, although work are currently paying for my parking as I'm not up to public transport at the moment.

    Thanks Guys!

Today I've claimed my free cuppa at costa with "red" milk and resisited all temptation to eat cake :o

I am a few weeks in to my countdown but we got our free book the week after we paid. I'm not overly inspired by it but felt it was worth a punt beens as I needed the commitment of a 12 week countdown.

    Today looks:

    B: 2 Alpen light/aldi bars He B, satsuma
L: BBQ chicken, left over bombay potatoes (1 syn) braised red cabbage (1 syn)
D: Bolagnaise thats packed with onions/mushrooms/peppers/tomatoes/carrot.... will have with veggies instead of pasta.

Thanks Beanie, I think it was a huge achievement for me to only gain 2lbs n 6months and it made me realise I have more control over my eating then I ever previously did!

Good to see you back mary. Do you think, despite being off plan, you had SW ingrained and made wise choices as second nature?:)

I'm feeling a bit bloated despite sticking to plan. No idea why?? No plans to go to WI this week so it doesn't really matter but I like my tummy to be flat.

I've got about 13 syns left although no plans to use them today. I'm going to write a syn free menu but could switch dinner to corned beef or something else with a few syns so that leaves my 105 intact for next week.

    Today's EE menu:
B: NAS grapefruit, 2 boiled eggs, HEB toast, HEA milk for drinks
L: ham, fried potatoes and veg, pickled cabbage.
D: Austrian ham hash with cabbage
    Syns: none

Been off plan Monday and yesterday as I had a friend visiting. We ate a lot :o Then I'm a bit vague on the details but there was a bottle of red and just over a half a bottle of whisky consumed last night. It was the litre bottle too :o I don't remember much, but friend assures me that I had more than my share :rotfl: Today is definitely another off plan day. I don't care :rotfl: In urgent need of lucozade and stodge and grease :rotfl:

WI tomorrow will not be good! But I've gotten myself a pretty new notebook and I shall be writing everything down!

For now I think I'll just curl up in a corner and die :rotfl:

    Good afternoon everyone,

Thanks for the sparkly new thread. I'm not going to join the challenge, even though I'm a few LBs over target at present. Wanted to wish all the best of luck for the new challenge.

    Happy Slimming.

I did decide to change the dinner menu around. So tonight we're having chicken casserole (carrots, onion, leeks, mushrooms, celery, butter beans and new potatoes) with cabbage on the side. It's only a tbsp. of cornflour to thicken but at least it wont be a syn free day.

Hugs to the poorlies with nasty colds and stuff. Hope you feel better soon.:)
