    Sort of. He will take another portion in the next tax year too (while his income from occupational pension is below the tax threshold, ahead of state pension. We do still want to go travelling - probably not a long-haul flight - maybe long slow travelling but our ultimate destinations are closed and out of reach at the moment. Or it might get used for my outbuilding re-build (the ground slab will be expensive but at least the old one can be used for hardcore!) - I'm waiting on the design currently. He is learning a new CAD package so the design can be modified to reflect my input. I've started looking at  things like mis-measured DG windows and french/patio doors on FB marketplace, and maybe repurposed front or back doors to incorporate

    We have got a bit of a mix, with about 2:1 Stock market related equities, funds and bonds to cash and bonds

    0.2lb off yesterday - I have slightly increased what I am eating as my body seems to have gone into starvation mode

    I am still stuck, just under a stone lighter. I am a little discouraged. There is a Dr Michael Mosley programme on Channel 4 on Thursday that I'm going to watch to see if that helps. I suspect it will confirm that exercise is important as part of a healthy lifestyle, along with weight control - but that 10,000 steps a day is a myth that causes wear and tear on your joints. Just guessing.

    Good for you that Miss E back at school. Keep your eye on the health prize of that weight loss - much healthier and better for you, especially at your age.

    @Suffolk_lass @edinburgher have either of you looked at any of what Dr Rangan Chatterjee's podcasts say?  He often covers weight loss and his recent book is quite good at giving a different thought process.  I have tried some of his principles and it has really helped.

    @Suffolk_lass @ajmoney

    If I know Michael Mosley, he will recommend HIIT. I do try and hit my 10k a day, but I definitely think it's wearing (not just on the joints, I throw out more socks than the average family of 4)!

    AJM - I haven't, but will do so during my long work day today, thanks :smile: Long weekend after this, so just keep plodding

    I've been for 3 long walks this last week, as per my February to do list, and the wear and tear on my joints is noticeable - it's the balls of my feet!  I'm limping round the house like a limpy thing.  My plan to get an electric folding bike when the shops open up again and I can try a few is a definite plan now.

    Good luck with the new schedule, Ed.

    He also regularly podcasts - a lot of his TV material has previously been focused at improving the health of British Asian families - especially pre-diabetic men. I have not read his books but I do "know him". I stuck with Michael Mosley and Professor Roy Taylor's approach because it suited me and my sporadic eating but maybe my body is not up for that now.

    We have stopped eating meat for a month but I guess we are eating too well.

    We have had a very enjoyable long weekend, although I am tired out and a little bored of minimal free time (it's a hard lark, this being human business). Still, got rid of loads of month end chores, including cleaning the dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer and a massive amount of aquarium cleaning and gardening. Our beautiful Siamese fighting fish (originally named "Fighty") was looking a bit blue (that joke only works if you know he's electric blue)! and so I thought some clean water etc. would hopefully perk him up.

    Month end financial reporting was actually fairly uneventful despite a wee bit of chaos in the markets. We ended the month down by roughly £1,100, I can live with that. Our cash savings towards extension or home move passed £2,000 this morning. Annoyingly my new laptop means that I will probably have to buy another licence for Microsoft Office. I've tried using Open Office etc. in the past, but it didn't agree with me. I'll see if I can find a cheap key when our financial month starts in the morning.

    Can you not just transfer your existing product licence over to the new laptop, Ed? - or is it an additional laptop?
