Well, that wasn't worth it. Felt bloated for much of the weekend, apparently put on 8.2lbs! 😱
Suspect most of that is water, back to the diet (gladly) today.5 -

Straight back to it with the good behaviour. Breakfast was coffee and cream, smoked salmon and trout caviar with mayo. Lunch probably veggies and peanut butter, eggs with butter for dinner.
£25 of PB bought, budgets trimmed and working away.
Fingers crossed one week left of home school. I am starting to feel guilty that I haven't enjoyed it more and am sure that DD is picking up on this. Feeling a degree of parental burnout, but mostly cross at myself for not being "stronger".

8.2lbs? That sounds mad! You were eating coal, weren't you, in some sort of weird parental thing going on?
Ed, don't feel guilty about not having enjoyed the home schooling more - I'm sure you'd have found it a better experience, for example, if you'd been able to go to local community run days on specialist subjects, or the ordinary groups had been going on - I don't know what DD would normally have attended, but age appropriate brownies, tumble tots, ballet, craftwork etc all come to mind. Instead, you've been focussed inward, necessarily - it's not natural, and it's not your fault, or DD's either.2023: the year I get to buy a car6 -

There is nothing - realistically - we could have done, other than our best, in this situation ed. It was schooling at home, not homeschool. It was schooling whilst also working, whilst also having to limit outside movement, whilst worrying about our own health - and the health of others, including our nearest and dearest.......... Both you and MrsE provide a nurturing environment for DD, which includes education in its formal and informal contexts. It's always good to try to be better, to try to improve. But moment to moment, we can only do what we can do. Be kinder to yourself.

Thanks Karmacat and Greying_Pilgrim (and no, I'm not eating coal)!
I think part of the problem with MH recently is the fact that I find it hard to switch off from my job, which is made harder when my office is the room next to my bedroom! Don't get me wrong, I've no urge to return to the office, but it would be nice to have some time to decompress from this. If DD goes back to school next week I have a couple of days leave booked at the end of the week, it is sorely needed. A big part of my job involves responding to complicated complaints and enquiries about topics that can be quite distressing, so it can be hard to "get away" from them until they are closed down (and even then, people can contact you for months afterwards to disagree with your findings).
1.6lbs off today, still no idea how it's physically possible to add 8lbs+ in two days? My understanding was that this would be approximately 20,000 excess calories - lucky if I ate 10,000 over the two days...
£25 of PB bought, budgets trimmed and I bought a new laptop! Looking forward to this arriving in a few weeks time, our current laptop will be 11 this year.
Right! Third last day of home school awaits3 -
I can relate to that gain in weight - mine was 4lbs and it was three days after having the Chinese Takeaway we enjoyed on Friday (avoiding the V-Day rush) - I have also had a small amount of DH's homemade sourdough bread because I have been really fed up. Silly really, I didn't need it and only ended up cheating myself. Back on the straight and narrow today. That first stone is elusively out of reach (mind you, I had to take codeine for two days for a blinding nausea-inducing headache and that is not conducive to normal body behaviour). Hopefully this morning (when DH clear the bathroom (40 minutes so far))!
We also bought some PB this week - DH cashed in a quarter of his DC pension and we rounded it up a bit to get him £10k to see if it will trigger a little win for him (he has never won anything, on anything, except a free euromillions ticket!)Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)
OS Grocery Challenge in 2025 I am at £1286.68/£3000 or 42.89% of my annual spend so far
I also Reverse Meal Plan on that thread and grow much of our own premium price fruit and veg, joining in on the Grow your own thread

But people do come back - although I've been retired 4.5 years now, I had someone contact me last month (fortunately only for a book recommendation) but others have contacted me via phone, facebook and linked in. Must delete my linked in account, I don't need it.
As far as your own needs are concerned, Ed, you might look at this webpage: 10 Self-Care Tips For Psychologists, Therapists and Counselors (positivepsychology.com) I just googled self care for therapists. When the issues you work with are that complex, you may well have the same needs as a therapist.2023: the year I get to buy a car1 -

@Suffolk_lass - does DH need to keep cash on hand? PBs seem good for short term purposes, but I'm not sure I'd stick retirement cash in there beyond short term cash flow.
Budgets trimmed, £25 of PB bought and a Blu-Ray sold. Not a great amount of profit, but XIRR tells me it made 10.26% from when I purchased it.
Work got a little more bearable and I lost another 3.2lbs (still making up the difference from my cheat weekend tho).
