I've just booked a couple of ferry crossings - one to NL and then back from France - I wanted to do them before the sale ends today. Got word back from our friends in France so the trip will end with them. Nothing else sorted yet, just me, DH and the car so far.
I can't tell you how much it lifted my spirits. Never mind blue Monday - more like miserable Monday (and Tuesday). I thought I might have squeezed the best I can out of tidying money this month as all the bills were paid but it turns out the new energy supplier will be taking a suitably untidy total on 27th Jan, and I need to do a bit of shopping today as no fresh fruit left, so two more tidies to go.

I would love to do the whole ferry to France thing and am definitely thinking that the use of planes should be reserved for the (very occasional) long distance trips that we take. What sort of world are we leaving for our kids?
I think, however, that a Eur0camp trip or similar would probably only make financial sense if you go for 2-3 weeks. I priced a week, but a fortnight was only an extra £300 or so. Quite a lot of driving from Scotland as well, really should save up for an electric car
£84.85 paid off CC (another couple of CD sales yesterday).0 -
Mrs E at a spa with her pals today, so I'm having a second daddy daughter day. Drama class in the morning, Frozen II at the cinema this afternoon and some QT in between.
£165 or so paid off CC between yesterday and today, sold a few more CDs
*Edit, not bad that Frozen II
Sold an old computer game, £6 or so after fees and postage.0 -
A funny sort of weekend, I am feeling a little burned out
Mrs E has suggested taking a day off for myself, which sounds like a good idea, will probably do at some point in February.
Back to work today nursing the lurgy and can't really be bothered. Still, I have fairly clear objectives for the week and no particular horror stories to resolve!
£155.48 paid off CC, now under £7k :j
*Edit: Oops! It's actually £238.28, accidentally paid CB money off twice0 -

I nearly paid something twice yesterday - I had put a forward date on a move to the instant saver account and thanks to the lurgy for three days, completely forgot it was scheduled and started to pay it twice. The bank account alerted me to a duplicate payment (very helpful). It would not have been a disaster as all shuffling between our accounts but nevertheless, I would have struggled with untidy account balances when my intention was the opposite.Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

£94.18 paid off CC, nearly down to £6.5k
Every £100 is now over 1.5% of the remaining.
Last day of work, would love to skive, but have a horrific report to finish! :rotfl:0 -
That is impressive progress in not much time since you resolved to clear the CCs - well done. I think your weather has been pants this week - my Mum is not far south and I see some spent a night on the Motorway South one night this week - I hope it picks up for you. Especially for your long weekend.
It is b-cold here but that is a normal EA Spring. I don't mind now my heating is working again.Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)
