We've gone with navy cabinets in our new kitchen with grey walls and I love it. Best decision ever :)

Bathroom tiles are a different thing to kitchen ones - they are often large, shiny (or if matt they are generally smooth) and bathrooms are clean places. Kitchen tiles tend to be smaller - so there's more grout to get grubby with that kitchen air that - no matter how good the extractor - will have grease in it to some degree. I love the fact that we have no kitchen tiles now - just washable walls with the upstands running around the worktops and the granite splashback behind the range (I was going for coloured glass until the designed suggested the granite)

That said, I do love the look of the brick style tiles in a kitchen - just not in my kitchen, as I wouldn't keep the grout clean enough (although dark grey grout with white tiles is rather effective)

Am dreading work today. Awkward documents to write, fractious colleagues who would rather be elsewhere and no chance of leave as everyone else got in first with their requests :(

I was wondering that (attaching granite to the wall). Doesn't your office have a quiet room you could work in to shut yourself away?

Thanks both. Unfortunately if our office had a quiet area in which to work, I think there would be a queue of 200 people looking to use it! :rotfl:

£58.54 paid off CC - the amounts (1% of the balance daily) are starting to taper quite a bit. I think once it gets down to £50 a day or less, I'll try and up this to 2% until the money runs out :D

YNAB tells me that expenditure is looking ok so far (have c. £3k in the bank, get paid a week today and 99% of the direct debits have gone). Basically I'm trying to get the amount as low as I can so that my 13th wage (June) strikes our debts a fatal blow :D
