We got home fairly late last night, and had bad news from our landlord. So I spent what time I could have been flying on crying and searching for houses instead. Yesterday's list was also not attempted, I'm not doing too well on re-joining you! I'll be at home this afternoon so today's list will be attempted.
What are everyone's 'dailies'? We have no real routine and I'd love to glean some good habits from you.

Pauper.. hope you get your home woes sorted.. my daughter just had to move out of her home because her landlord increased their rent so they couldn't afford it...
.. Landlords are just a$$holes. Dailies in here are a constant battle to stay on top of bins/recycling/dishwasher/laundry and keeping the kitchen sink accessible and the toilet clean.. nothing else gets done most days.
Twinkle slept a whole 5 hours! I've just left OH in bed this morning.. paid the electric bill and activated my new card, and ordered a replacement bank card again.. I seem to get a new one every 12-14 months because I'm a div and lose them constantly.. the last one was in the storage bit on the car door!!!
We have a mountain of ivy to get in the brown bin today and I need to get through some more rubbish in the girls room.. it looks a lot emptier despite the fact I have only binned 3 binbags of stuff.. hopefully I can get another 3 binbags out of there.. I may need an incinerator to deal with all the mountains of paperwork I have up there.. once that is tidy I can start sorting through the christmas presents I have already got and get those wrapped and get the bedroom ready for DS3. It is a titanic task.. not meaning it is large meaning I will get half way through capsize and all on board will die in a flood of rubbish.... I WILL get on top of some of this stuff.. I hate my house being like this but there are just not enough hours in the day. I know the smalls are only small a short time so it isn't going to be forever but it is quite overwhelming and demoralising at the moment.
anyway.. onward!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -

So sorry to hear you've got landlord problems, Pauper. Hope you find somewhere else very soon.
There's only me and DH here, and my dailies are usually
- our bed: pull undersheet and duvet straight, plump up and turn pillows, fold my pyjamas (DH usually hangs his on the radiator - but at least they're off the floor!)
- clear floordrobe, throwing dirty clothes in washing basket and tidying piles of once-worn clothes on bedroom chairs
Takes 1-2 minutes
- S&S bathroom: whoever has last shower sprays the shower screen; I wipe round handbasin and loo
Takes 2-3 minutes
- S&S kitchen: stack dirty crocks and cutlery in DW and/or wash up by hand with minimum WU liquid (then leave to drip dry!); clear away any packets of food, close all cupboard doors and drawers, wipe worktops and drawer/door handles as necessary; use brush and pan on floor if DH has spilt cereal again; wipe tablemats; cull and tidy piles of papers on kitchen table to leave space; empty bins if necessary
Takes 3-4 minutes unless I also have to empty the DW (which DH normally does)
- LR: open curtains; fold rugs (if used), plump up cushions; cull and tidy DH's pile of papers and books so it's not visible from the doorway :rotfl:
Takes 1-2 minutes
... so usually less than 10 minutes' flying. Anything else is a bonus! I tend to clean through the whole house once a week, with DH doing the hoovering. Most of my mess is out of the way in the spare room aka study bedroom aka RoD, and DH keeps his bits and pieces with his computer in the garage aka mancave aka RoDOOOOOOOOOOOOM. It has taken me 9 years to train him to this (not high) level of tidiness, but I can live with it most of the time if the kitchen and LR are clean and tidy - I have better things to do in life than constant cleaning :rotfl:
Pigpen, well done to your DS2 - a great achievement! Hope he enjoys the work.
And well done lynnejk on your interview success. Please keep us posted!
Yesterday we did the long drive to South Wales and back. Lovely to see family, but such a sad occasion (funeral of a 43-yo). Our NNDNs looked after Rosie and took her for some short walks. She was very pleased to see us when we finally got home at 10.00 pm. Now I must take her out for a run in the woods. Squirrels beware!
Other plans for today include
- food shopping
- DH to dentist at 12.25
- visit J and her baby this afternoon
- don't do anything that will wreck my shoulder any more than the driving did - so no gardening or window cleaning
(((Hugs))) spoons and sticks all round, as needed x0 -
**gets out box of rockets and places several under OH**
If one more person complains they are bored I am going to bury them in the garden.. I am sick of hearing it.. Pauper - have a hug from me love. Hope you find something very soon and that it ends up being a good thing out of a bad. Re dailies - if I make the beds, prep tea and stick the DW and WM on at least once that's good enough for me!
How on earth is it nearly school run time already?! Brisket smells delish in SC. I have been volunteering, collected a load of kindling wood for the fire from local business (freebie :j) and have just relented and put the heating on. There is washing pegged out but it's just hanging there, cold!
Thrown a few more bits on the C4C pile, still need to sort the top of DS wardrobe but really CBA.
Can you put a rocket up me too please Piggers?MFW

Piggers great news re DS2 .:T
Lynne Ooh - it sounds exciting;we shall wait with baited breath to learn more.
Pauper (((HUGS))) I've never been in rented accommodation, but I do commiserate with your landlord woes.
Re dailies - mine are pretty much Swish'n'swipe the kitchen and bathroom; change the toothbrush glass; check that the lounge and bedroom are tidy; put any recycling out in the shed (the blue box for glassware and pink sack for "everything else" live out there); check the laundry bin and if there's enough for a WM load, do that; ensure all the washing up is done (this last of course happens after breakfast). That's about it, really.Sorry to read about your migraine LW and pleased it's passing. Sounds like your visitors are starting to build up - how fantastic
I'm really pleased to get this latest guest, as November is usually a slack time; so getting little Suzie booked in for TWO short stays during the month is wonderful. She'll be arriving for her first little holiday next Thursday, yesterday's visit was to get to know her (and get her used to us) and find out about her daily routine etc.If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Beasty feeding time almost.. OH has trotted off to work.. he will home around midnightish. Pixie is snoozing on the sofa and Twinkle was allowed an hour nap and is now practising her walking with a wheeled mouse. Dot is climbing the walls with boredom.
I guess I should make a start on dinner for them all so they can go to bed at a sensible time.
We did not get to the tip but we have further pinned the tarps on the sheds..we will no doubt get it sorted this week. The removed foliage was placed in the bins so that was garden progress!
box of rockets placed in the corner.. feel free to explode into action!!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Sorry to hear about your landlord's news, Pauper, and I hope you find something suitable really quickly.
Well done Pigpen's DS2 and huge congratulations.
Fantastic news, Lynnejk! Do let us know more as and when you can, it sounds sooooo exciting!
Last night for the first time ever I cooked the meal about an hour early and kept it warm in the oven. I was just too tired to wait for OH to come home before I started, and I'll defo do that again in the future because it tasted just fine.
Car paintwork primed and touched up, soup made from leftover veggies from the past few days and scoffed for lunch, Kelpie trundled five times and he's finally settled, urgent paperwork dealt with, two urgent phone calls made, yard swept, raspberries tied in, and I've finally reached the point I should have achieved by Tuesday. It's been a long and exceptionally busy week and I won't be sorry to see the back of it. Unfortunately that won't be until 4.00 pm Saturday afternoon but if I can keep going until then, all should be well.
And now to start on the wretched minutes. I have an hour and twenty-six minutes before I need to be somewhere else.Better is good enough.0 -
Hi ladies! Had a good day here in Dizzyland. Oil pipe laid and connected both ends. Boiler fired up and running well, so we will have hot water in the house at all time from the morning onwards. And we can have a bath!!! A bath, I tell you!!! Rather than a splash in a puddle which is all we can manage in the caravan.
Sample tiles for cooker splashback arrived and are perfect. Sparkie measured up for cooker extractor and the one I want will fit - yippee :j - must order ASAP.
Templates made for slate windowsills.
Living room lights up and working.
Base laid for new kennels (by DH, no less....I know, I nearly fainted too!)
CCTV installed and connected.
Washing up to date. Ironing not quite...
And...slow-cooked butter beef curry ready to scoff!
Pauper, I'm sorry your housing situation isn't great ATM. I hope you find somewhere nice very soon (Not all of us landlords are bad - I've just installed a brand new boiler for my tenants and haven't raised their rent in two years)
Uh-oh - banging fireworks can be heard and VelvetDog is super scared. All 45 kilos of him! A large, heavy lap-dog, I can tell you!0 -
Thank you so much everyone. I think I've got a pretty good list of Dailies now. I haven't even done the washing up today, let alone anything from the flying list! I really need to get my stuff together...Make £2025 in 2025 #18 - £569.66/£2025
