On the bad side, DD1 came home with a broken set of headphones (as they have to use them in school - I think I am being had here) and a busted phone too. Apparently 'someone' knocked her bag from the shelf causing her water bottle to break and soak her phone and all her books. That's two phones in a year. The first one she lost. Still a year to go on contract. Is 'No more phones' is the fair response to that? She seems incapable of looking after anything. What would you guys do?

Either you are going to have to invest in insurance, or severely downgrade the phone with a sim only contract. How old is DD?

DS1 was a total clutz but wanted a phone when he went to High School. I got him a Nokia brick.( It was a 105 I think, it was £5 with £10 cashback) No internet, not smart, but he could call me, text me, the battery lasted 9 days and he fell in love with playing snake.
He whined about it, but after it got run over by a car when he was crossing the road (don't ask) and when he put it back together again and it still worked, he understood. He got it. He thanked me for not giving him a 'decent' phone as he would have been gutted and I would have been right.

A year later gave him my old phone when I upgraded. He has never lost it / had it run over / dropped it down a well.

The phone is a tool for emergencies or letting you know where she is, not an entertainment system. That's what I tell my kids.

And as for the headphones, get them from £land - my boys lose them all over the place, I am sure it is a school money making ploy, so we have spares. Hope somewhere in all that, something helps.

    Hi all turtles :j

    Checking in
    : 9/30

NSDs: 5/15 Yes no spends today as I didn't go out or buy online, a third of the way there!!

Organise: Not much organising done today except organised kind friend to come round ( he's retrained as an electrician) to shed (hah) some light on the dreaded cellar. He is very thorough & he fitted 2 lights, plus removed one defunct fitting that was sticking out. I have to say it's amazing..he also made it so that I can turn the lights on at the top of the cellar steps (not possible before). Gosh the illumination, I have to keep opening the door & turning on the light :rotfl:

Value for money - Yes well I have but unintentionally - the said friend will not take any cash for what he does.....we bought the lights, but he took about 3 hours in total to do the job properly. Of course I gave him lunch, but he just won't be paid! I would like to ask him to do more, but feel I can't ask. We used to be able to invite him to a big sporting event, which he did come to, but we can't do that any more as we don't go. When he did some work at my DDs house some time ago I pressed him to take some money, but he fobbed me off by saying that we could take him out for meal. When I asked him what kind of meal, he just laughed & said he'd told me that to shut me up!! Any ideas welcome...

    Exercise - not really

    Mental health - Good today.

Be Christmas ready - still on with the knitting. Was able to try out festive teabags on friend & he liked them so can put some in his festive hamper that I make.

Eat well - Not too mad but not stuck completely to plan. Must. Do. Better.

Report - Gratitudes - for kind friends, for being able to see all the crud in the cellar (yes really) for a pleasant lunch & afternoon spent chatting, for a lie in tomorrow
New start JAN15 - NOT BUYING IT 2015 . Long haul DFW #145 : 2011 DEBTBUSTING : £5500 OD GONE, £2000 OD - GONE £93,610.30 cc & loan debt - GONE 27.6.14 FINALLY DEBT & MORTGAGE FREE :happyhear

A SFD. Not been outside the house.

Several boxes of clutter gone through, scrap paper and rubbish bagged, pots, cans and other kitchen stuff bagged and taken downstairs, stuff dragged from under the bed - doesn't sound like much but after a lot of bending down then getting on the floor I struggled to get back up and onto the bed.

Not done as much as I wanted (story of my life) but my shoulder was hurting a lot this morning and I took the neavy duty painkillers which made have made me sleep, but at least it did my shoulder a lot of good. I have found the paperwork I need for contacting the WTC people.

Today I am grateful for doing the things I managed to do (just because you can't do it all, doesn't mean you can't do something, similarly need to focus on what I have done, not what remains 'undone'). Grateful for finding a portion of my lovely hm chilli in the freezer and also finding a portion of mashed potato which went with the sausages I saw in there yesterday. Grateful that DS3 was already downstairs when the meter man came and he sent me back to bed - I wasn't fully dressed but yesterday I seemed to have been left in charge of parcel receiving. The couch is disappearing again. Very grateful to find a dress, a skirt and 2 long sleeved t-shirts in the pile of clean clothes (mostly their's) as I did wonder what on earth I was going to wear. found one sock but its partner is in the drawer.
My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.

NSDs - Today could be number 3, depends if my car gets brought back today, as I won't be able to resist driving it to the shop I've been desperate to get to for a month and don't fancy braving it at the weekend.

    Organise - Groceries £143.24/£200
    Petrol £0/£150

Value for money - used an Amazon voucher to take a fiver off a Christmas present last night. Can't remember if I used TCB or not. Probably not. I managed to cash out another on SB so next spend day I'll sort another present.

    Exercise -
    Week 1 3/4
Week 2 2/4 maybe another today if car doesn't arrive til later on, as I need to collect some bits from town and would have to walk up

Mental health - DS was feeling better yesterday so we got out for some fresh air.

Be Christmas ready - ordered another present yesterday

Eat well - will be at my mum's today so this will be a definite!

Report - Grateful for a better night's sleep, for an hour to myself this morning and for *fingers crossed* getting my car back today!

Didn’t manage a NSD, but happy it was only 70p for some crisps to go with my sandwich. I thought that I still had some at work but I didn’t. Will remember to put some in my bag today.

dancingdragons I would buy him a cheap phone but tell him hes not having anything expensive. My husband is a nightmare for losing phones and it drives me mad - he sold all his old x box games to trade it for a half decent 2nd hand phone last time because I was so cross at him.:rotfl: I was on my high horse because Ive never lost a phone then about a week later mine fell from my hand and smashed:eek: I only got myself a very cheap replacement though :A:p

Today is NSD # 5 :j Christmas fayre tomorrow which is free with English Heritage (usually 25quid:eek:) but Ill need spends. Im going to pack a picnic& flask and take our own mince pies so that pins my final hope on sunday for getting to 6 this week.

Organise- spent the week organising my cupboards toys etc so today Im going to clean the house from top to bottom and do a meal plan for the week ahead. Ive already got some pork belly out the freezer forcing me to cook it for tea because it needs using! I also need have a look at my coupons

    Value & Christmas- nothing.

Excersize and fitness- started insanity last night and eating has been ok. :o

Mental health- house has been getting me down a bit so keen to make headway with that today. Budgets are all under control just need to get my freezer filled. The key to me feeling calm is me feeling things are in hand!

Greatful for- hub bringing me a brew in bed , the delicious cinnamon roll my lovely boss brought into work for me yesterday & for finally having a day at home!

Firstly I want to say thank you for the lovely messages regarding my Mum. She seemed slightly better within herself yesterday. She is still in pain and is made worse when she is moved by staff to be washed etc. She cannot really rest at night time due to staff testing her blood sugar etc. She told me off yesterday which is a good sign. I said that I would try and behave myself today and she said I better behave myself. It means a lot to me. It may sound strange to other people but it means she is getting back slowly how she was before going into hospital. My uncle came to see my Mum yesterday. My sister and niece are coming down from Norwich today. My brother and family are coming down from Somerset on Sunday. Did let the priest know what ward my Mum was on. Said he would try and see her. Not keen on this priest at the parish where we usually go as we live close by and within the parish area. Thinks more about money than people sadly. Did tell another priest who knows us from a different parish as whenever I saw him he always asked me about my Mum. Asked him to pray for her. He did ask what hospital she was in to which I told him.
Mental health – Am struggling with this at the moment. Lack of sleep is not helping. Hopefully the next couple of days I will have a better night’s sleep. Will try and take a better care of myself.
Did get a letter from where I got my mortgage as I made a complaint about PPI. Had it overturned before. It was about if they took a high level of commission when they sold it to me. So filled out the necessary details online. Can only wait to see the outcome.
Has been a spending time for me at the moment with things at the moment. Will keep a close eye on this area.
    Grateful for:
    Uncle visiting my Mum.
Being told off by my Mum which is a good sign.
Friend buying me a little treat yesterday.

Don't shout but I have put this on an empty CC to get the points as close to getting £15 voucher and these points will make me qualify! When funds arrive from MIL will pay off IMMEDIATELY.
Exercise - Going to clubbercise class tonight. Haven't been since pre summer so should be interesting!
