    Day 3 #18 checking in:

    NSD - 3/12
    Grocery Budget - £68.47/£280
Value for Money - You all might be able to help with this.... Is there a way of buying giftcards cheaper than their value. Need a £15 giftcard for *bucks but sure I've read you can buy them at a discount somewhere?

Some people used to sell their unwanted ones on eBay. Saw some for @pple, iTun3s etc but none with loaded value for *bucks

Or try sites like https:// www. cardyard. co. uk/ but I've not seen any *bucks there either. www. zeek. me

    How do you mean?

If you don't spend today it's an SFD and the money is still there for another day. Or do you have a daily budget? I just work based on monthly budgets, what's left over gets put towards debt or savings

  • Well October wasn't a major disaster. Stayed in budget for food, and petrol. Had a cruise around greek islands last week and was £7.06 overbudget. Just bought baklava as presents, had a luxury pedicure and a body massage as my special treats all in the budget!

Going to set my challenges at
    NSD 12
    groceries £300
    Petrol £70

Will try to spend less on socialising and pay more to my debt.
Family coming to stay for weekend next week
£10 a week meeting up with different friends - coffee shops unfortunately.

Will compare prices and shop Lidl for value for money
Exercise will go back to gym and will aim for 3 times a week.

Mental health Came back from cruise relaxed, but I care for my mum aged 94 and my grown up daughter with mental health issues and was immediately submerged by their needs and wants. Trying to meditate daily, read my books and get out and about.

Christmas Ready Don't buy food in advance as it tends to get eaten beforehand. Bought my grandson's presents. Vouchers for everyone else - one a week out of grocery money.

Eat well Back to the low carb diet as recommended by diabetes uk

Report daily I will if only hello/goodbye

    Gratitudes
My new floor in kitchen, dining, lounge looks amazing still have some things left to do but money put aside when we moved.
My grandson being a little soldier despite chicken pox.
The lovely birds visiting my garden feeder.

Hugs to those who need them
    NSD 1/3,
My mantra is After I ....I will. eg After I make my morning coffee, I will take my medication. Eventually this will become a habit,

If it is payment for eg kiddie activities that are paid weekly, or things like window cleaners who might come on different days, then you can put it aside in an 'envelope' for that acivity and therefore preserve an nsd.

re your hospital visit - if you ONLY need to pay for parking, you keep your nsd, as it counts as a medical necessity. However, you can guess what happens if you buy anything else... :D

thrifty I do that too re monthly budgets. I have a monthly budget after bills savings etc. I try and break it down into rough weekly budgets so I don't spend it all week one, so I will think "ok i have 200 quid left so roughly 50 pound a week" for example. Then my savings are sub devided into categories because Im neurotic:rotfl::rotfl:

I also second the above advice. Just have all milk money ready on one of your first spend days and then you don't loose SFDs weekly.

BTW having subcategories for savings isn't neurotic. I have 5 online accounts-xmas/car/house, child one, child 2, kitchen fund, emergency fund, ISA. It's quite normal, no :D

  • Afternoon all!

DH went to get the drawers today which were £200. Budgetted for so ok. Picked up my prescription too to avoid using up a SFD another day. I may have also bought some shoes. That was unplanned and naughty. But pretty. :D I never have anything like it or be frivolous so it's not the end of the world this once.

So still sat on 1/15 SFDs. All weekend should be spend free as we're working and DD with granny.

Organize - DH building the new drawers now, will get them filled tonight and spare room stuff moved now there's space elsewhere for it. Well on the road to redecorating spare room for DD.

Mental health - prank played on me at work today (I used to hate this, but I give as good as I get now and it's all in good humour.) Ultimately had me laughing and it feels so good to be in a job where I can have a laugh. I didn't before and was in that job close to 9 years. probably why I don't mind the pranks now!

Gratitudes - left over lasagne for lunch today. SIL taking DH to get the drawers.

    MLx
