  • Im still kind of new here and sorry if this has been brought up before but i was just wondering do you all buy pizza bases or do you make them, I think i have seen ready made bases by the tomato puree in asda.
Do you use the tomato puree as the tomato sauce also.
I would really like to try making some this week, they sound so yummy and sooo much cheaper than dominos lol

There are loads of threads on pizza. If you go back to the money saving oldstyle board and use the search function where it says 'search this forum' it will give you loads of info. I make my bases using jamie oliver's recipe and freeze them in little balls - I usually make up about 2kgs worth at a time. I also make up big batches of tomato sauce (recipe in the last pizza thread from yesterday) and freeze it. Works out very cheap.

I make mine in the breadmaker, but I would imagine its just as easy without - I'm just lazy! For the sauce I cook some onion in olive oil, add 2 tbs tomato puree then whizz it with a stick blender. This used to be the only base sauce my kids would eat - it's quite sweet like a shop bought one.
    I have plenty of willpower - it's won't power I need.

I also make the base in the breadmaker. For the tomato I spread the base thinly with tomato puree then cover with tinned chopped tomatoes and sprinkle with mozzarella, sometimes I add toppings sweetcorn, mushrooms etc

    Much nicer than shop bought.

HM every time. Our bm broke and I had to use shop bought bases, wouldn't use them again they were nowhere near as nice as hm. For our topping I use passata and put garlic, worcester sauce, salt, pepper, sugar and oregano in it then I reduce it until it's quite thick - yum!

Make - far nicer and cheaper. Most definatley OS. I got my recipe off the bbc website, it has olive oil in it and it's really yummy. The whole house loves HM pizza now.

Another vote for home made much nicer than shop bought ones.

I also make mine in the bm and usually just use tomato puree for the sauce but now reading this i've got some good ideas.
