This is from a real italian cook who I know
1 pack tomato passata (about 500g)
1-2 tbsp olive oil
1tsp salt (she uses more like 1tbsp but I thought it was too much)
1tbsp oregano
bung in a saucepan and let cook till it thickens stirring occasionally (about 20-30 mins)
Freezes well. In fact it's worth making for the freezer cos no matter how big the pan the cooker always ends up looking like there's been a murder
Pizza is our comfort food too0 -
For my tomato sauce, I use tinned tomatoes, and whizz in with my hand held blender leftoverroast veg ie red and yellow peppers, garlic, courgettes, aubergines, onions etc etc This makes the sauce nice and thick and gets vegetables that my kids wouldnt normally touch into their diet. It is also delicious!0

I just do what every one else does, depends what I have in to what I used for the tomato base normaly tomato puree or passata because i use the rest to make chilli or spag bol.
I sometimes add bit chill powder to the tomato base to give it a "kick" or garlic in or on top of the base sauce, sprinkle with mixed herbs, cheese and normaly I'll make this pizza on Friday and use up the left over meat from lunches that didnt get used up, basicaly its "what have you" pizza (what have you got left to use up lol)
I have been since informed by my son he likes mams square pizzas (i only have a square baking sheet lol) better than the pizza mans pizza :rotfl:Grocery Challenge. £400. - £35.22 + £19.80 + £109.01 = £164.03
Other spends (Clothes Luxuries etc)£11.97 + £1.19 + £7.36 + £69.00 + £38.50 + £5.50 + £23.00 +£2.00 = £158.52:shocked::sad:0 -
I found a jar of crushed tomatoes with garlic and herbs in Asda - mix half and half with tomato puree and add some grated garlic - makes a lovely sauce and you get loads out of the jar enough for about 4 lots of 2 pizzas each. I make home-made bases and although they're nice I like the puffy dough ones I get at the pizza place - does anyones recipe give that puffed up finish as mine doesn't really seem to.Never let your sucesses go to your head and never let your failures go to your heart.:beer:0

I've still to make pizza dough in my bm, only got my panny less than a week ago and it's been non stop though!
I tend to use tomato puree and pesto for the base when I've made pizza - I tried it with pesto and passata too, and it's equally yum!
I tend to do this for my eldest daughter, she loves pesto and so I always put that and a tiny dab of tom puree on the bread if she's having cheese on toast, she always wolfes it down! It's quick if she's starving, too , which is a plus..
I fancy pizza for tea, now! Might have to look in the cupboard and see if I've got everything for the dough.......;)0
