This weekend instead of the usual Friday night takeaway I decided to try homemade pizza in the breadmaker. It was so yummy - DH said he preferred it to takeaway or shop bought "posh pizzas!". Think it may become our Friday night treat. It cost £1 to make and made 2 pizzas (enough for us both for dinner and lunch the next day with some homemade wedges)Lightbulb Moment: March 2007

I made pizza yesterday with my grandaughter, and I used Passatta for the sauce. Like a tomato puree.0 -
Just getting into this bread making lark & loving it. I've just progressed from loaves made wholly in my MR Fastbake to making rolls after making the dough in the BM.
So how do I make pizzas? What recipe do you use?
Does the dough have to "prove" before adding the topping?
Thanks in anticipation.:j New Year, New You = 1.5lb/12lb:j0 -
I have a MR breadmaker - the recipe for pizza dough is in the recipe book (i can post it if you want me too) - just pop it in, 1 1/2 hours later its ready to roll out into a pizza pan (or what ever baking sheet you have) - i leave it about 15 mins, then add my toppings!!!
I use tomato puree and dried basil as my base.0 -

Would you mind posting the recipe as I've misplaced my book. I know I can download it but my connection is slow at the moment.:j New Year, New You = 1.5lb/12lb:j0 -
No probs -
1 cup water
1 tbsp butter (melted) i often use olive oil instead, havnt noticed a difference in taste
2 tbsp sugar
1 tsp salt
2 3/4 cups bread flour
1 tsp yeast
will be either setting 6 or 8 for dough.
Pre heat oven, shape into a flat round shape. place on a greased baking tray. Brush lightly with oil.
Cover for 15 minutes and allow to rise.
Add desired topping.
Bake at approx 200C until golden brown.
We prefer ours thinner than this recipe, so find that is enough dough for 2 pizzas, if you like a thick base then this will make 1 pizza.0 -
I made Squeakys Lazy Pizza last week (as I made a promise to him woult at the meet earlier last month that I would try it before the month was up;)), my only complaint was that it was too small:rotfl: I will be doubling the recipe next time:DPost Natal Depression is the worst part of giving birth:p

We are also hm pizza converts I've never really liked shop pizza anyway. When my BM broke I used shop pizza bases, that was when we realised nothing could compare to completely home made pizza.0

I've found a very very good pizza recipe, used it a couple of times, makes excellent Calzone pizza too (Folded, like a huge italian pasty).
3.5 cups plain flour
1 cup semolina
1.75 cups water
1 tbsp salt
2 tbsp oil
1 packet yeast
chuck it in the BM on dough mode and bingo!
I also dust my baking sheet with semolina, to stop the pizza sticking. This is what they do in all the pizza places!0
