hi, just got back from the docs and have got acute tendonitis. have got a splint on and am not allowed to use my wrist at all. got to put it in ice and take ibuprofen.May need to go in plaster to keep it imobile!
so am off work :D have got a big pile of books to read but it will be hard not using my wrist, am not used to not doing much!

better go and break out the frozen peas!

catch you later, its hard typing left handed!

    TTFN

    Taplady, you have my sympathy!!!
I have something like this in both wrists, but I don't have to wear splints as mine is in the joints. It is really frustrating, especially when you want to do something straightforward - like turn a door handle.
I am wearing track bottoms as I can't do zips or buttons!
    Here's to a quick recovery.

thanks luxor - luckily its only in the right wrist so I'm doing everything lefthanded - its the little things like you say such as turning the door handle or buttering my toast that are difficult. You poor thing having it in both wrists! xxx

(((hugs))) to hilstep and everyone suffering with a cold ATM

    Heavenleigh - you've got a lovely house!

was going to make butternut squash soup but cant peel them so me and DS2 have just had poached eggs on toast, going to watch lots of things on video later and have a read, just starting a new Jodi Picoult - the Tenth Circle, have just finished My Sister's keeper whcih was a brilliant book - made me cry!

House reasonably tidy and washing on line - did it before the docs, have to get DH to hang the rest out later.

Am not used to so much time to myself!:D

  • Afternoon all :)

A bit out of the loop here...pulled a muscle in my back last week which put me out of action for the best part of 5 days...back at work now but still need OH's help in getting dressed in the morning...although he keeps trying to take my clothes off, not put them on... Fortunately I have been able to adjust my workload at work and have other people to do my lifting and carrying for me :D Watched more TV and DVDs in the time I was out of action than I have in the last six months I think! Diet slightly went out of the window while I was off - the chocolate digestives in the cupboard in the kitchen that I had been managing to resist for several weeks now, seduced me, and I think I've had a bit too much lovely green olive bread from the farm shop too :( Must get myself over to the OS losing weight thread...Not doing too badly but could do with a kick up the bum!

Not quite sure what we're having for dinner tonight, will have to have a rummage in the fridge and freezer when we get home.

Have a lovely afternoon everyone :) ((((HUGS)))) and kisses to all that want/need them.

    Hi everyone!
Hugs to those who need them...sorry if I don't mention individuals by name but I usually only have 10 mins on the thread to read it and then I'm back to work.
I've now managed to break the back of the Chrimbo shopping this year [hope they'll be some goodies at Lidl to move it on even further when I visit on Sat]. Planning to get OH a new watch from Argos on the way home..have to mega sneaky now he works from home. Nothing escapes his notice. I also picked up the Beano annual for the small person yesterday. In true os fashion I price checked and managed to get it down from 7.99 to 4.99 in WH Smith. Result I thought only to find it actually scanned at the till for 3.75 so may be worth a try if you':j re passing
OS today....hoovered through and put a white wash on. Veggie spag bol for tea. Have just started the Readers Digest How to save money on everything from the library and am finding lots of little tips and wrinkles. One suggestion is that when you're first trying to cut your shopping budget it's worth taking a month's worth of receipts and hightlighting the items into different categories eg snack foods, veg & fruit, store cupboard items so that you can see your own spending patterns. From there you can then identify areas to cut back...I think my wine and crisps proportion of the bill 5 years ago would have been quite substantial:D Have now cut down but not completelyout. I'm definitely no:A !!
Finally got started on my x stitch cushion. Hope to make more inroads tonight after doing the weekly shopping list and going to parents' evening.

  • Aril...I tried cutting alcohol out completely once...I lasted 17 days :D In the end we agreed to buy two bottles of wine a week (although we tend to buy the whole month's allocation in one go so we get the 5% discount), and when it's gone it's gone! We do buy a little more for special occasions like Christmas (ok a lot more for Christmas :D), birthdays and anniversaries :)

Afternoon all - and it's a beautiful one here. Lovely and sunny so I hope it is wherever you all are.

    HEAVENLEIGH - lovely pics!

SHEZ - sorry, I have to confess, he's been with me all day (and night) rubbing my chest to get rid of my cough! He's VERY good!

HILSTEP - take care of yourself with that cold - I'm just getting over it now, two weeks later.

TAPLADY -poor you with tendonitis; I've had it for years in both hands - some things I can do, luckily, like knitting and typing (but my handwriting is awful nowadays because that really hurts) but things like opening jars and doors, etc. I can't do very well. I hope the pain goes soon - it's not very nice.

CRAZY - it was a present to my mum from my sister - a tiny little doll which weighed next to nothing - so she won't claim it back!

ANCASTA - good luck with all you have on your plate!

MUPPET81 - I wish I could see your 'girls' when they first taste freedom. Makes me want to cry just thinking about it. I think it's lovely that you are giving them a new life.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MASTER DLB AND MS LUXOR.:bdaycake: :bdaycake:

THISISIT and ELLIE - hope you are feeling better now.

NELSKI - thanks for the legs! Why can men wear shorts even when it's not summer?

Well, I am feeling quite well now despite my night coughing. I've worked this morning and am just about to put some chicken in the oven and have a lounge around on the sofa - might do some knitting because I'm all behind with it now.

Hope everyone is enjoying the weather and (((hugs))) for all who wants one.

    See you later.

    Patentgirl,

I had cheese grater braces top and bottom for 7 years ... when your daughter goes to have them tightened ask them to give you (don't know what its called) but its like a stick of soft wax..she can roll it up and put it on the studs and it cushions them a bit..also you can now buy some little tiny bottle brush things (again-can't remember name:p ) they are used instead of dental floss..i use them -but they are great for cleaning around the studs... Some supermarkets have them..but the dentist should have all different sizes... hope it helps

I have to rely on my OM too, sadly he is really quite useless at ladies' underwear. :rotfl: After 25 years you would think the poor dab would have worked out how a bra fastens.. or even unfastens;)
