Brexit, the economy and house prices part 5

In Brexit news; lords vote for amendments guaranteeing rights post Brexit, and parliamentary approval for leaving customs union. Another attack on sovereignty?
The Lords are only doing what the vast majority of the Commons would do if they didn’t have to worry about honouring the will of the British people as espoused in the referendum.
It’s the difference between being elected and appointed I suppose.
I’m beginning to fear for our democracy.“Britain- A friend to all, beholden to none”. 🇬🇧0 -
Are you? That's funny because all I see the EU hoping for is money!
This shows how scared the EU are that a no-deal is still quite possible:

Preparing for the worst while planning for the best. Perhaps the British Government should have a go at that.
I do hope there is some progress and I for one believe there is enough good will on both sides for Britain to leave next year with some sort of deal that will minimise the damage to all sides. There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.0 -
I'll probably vote using a series of phalluses so I can express a preference whilst making my opinions known.
So you are not sure you will be voting. That is a shame.
I would like to encourage you to use that hard fought for vote.
It does not matter how you do it, in person, by post or using a series of phalluses. There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.0 -

My other half is Jewish and she and her family can smell anti-Semitism like a fart in a lift. If she and they think Corbyn's an anti-Semite, I tend to believe them.
It is sad and upsetting to see both Labour and Tory having racism in common.
Surely racism does not win votes other than in a referendum. There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.0 -

Eh?
I think Germany’s AfD and France’s Front Nationale (to name just two!) on mainland Europe might disagree.“Britain- A friend to all, beholden to none”. 🇬🇧0 -

The EU might fear the UK is setting up a hijack where everything is agreed (including a trade deal) and then, at the last minute, say that the regulatory alignment backstop won't be acceptable after all.
...
Let's be honest. Nation level brinkmanship is full of last minute deals.
What if the UK fear Spain raising the Gibraltar issue?
It would be easy to second guess many things.
I don't think the A50 dictated a progressive structure to the negotiations of leaving. It just set the time frame. What happens within that time frame is under the control of the two stakeholders.0 -

It's coming to something when you have to quote Graham_Devon to attempt a rescue. Yes, like leave, other political campaigns have used the tactics of the Nazis - that obviously makes it OK then.
Isn't it up to the electoral commission to monitor and regulate campaign material and any possible transgressions of standards?
I also seem to recall that it was the Italian Fascists who first adopted these propaganda tactics. Why isn't the comparison made to Mussolini?0 -
Yes, and we mentioned it before, and it exists.
So why the suggestion the EU are getting irate? Or is this more about trying to be seen as the ones driving the agenda again?
The EU still wants a workable solution which will be preferable to the backstops.
I think there might be some politics at play too; since May has promised the impossible they are pressing on her until she admits it. On the off chance she does come up with something then that would be brilliant.0 -

Because he mentioned the Nazis. We can talk about the similarities between it and fascist Mussolini if you want, but I can't see how that'd make it look any better?0 -
'Now I know you looked at the real source I'll spend some time on it, but it does seem to largely agree with you. I haven't seen where it mentions the underemployed though.'
I did not mention the underemployed I mentioned the unemployment rate of 4.2% the lowest since 1975
According to project fear it should be at least 8.5%!
I know you didn't mention under employment. I did, because employment figures are terribly misleading to the point of being useless. Someone losing a 40 hour a week professional job and resorting to a zero hour contract in Tesco for 5 hours a week is still employed, but not in a way that reflects well on the economy.0
