Regarding the UK custom union though insofar as discussed, it is unlikely for the very fact that we would still by default be a part of the EU.
In fact Norway's own EU minister Marit Berger Rosland has already said just a few weeks ago that a Norwegian-style agreement would not be good for the UK as it would limit the UK's decision-making powers.
As for Switzerland, well the EU's belligerence with them regarding passporting; free movement; and pushing for the Swiss to sign a treaty (which the Swiss resisted) is evidence of how strained Swiss/EU relations are.
As I see the proposal it is not a UK Customs Union being proposed but a Customs Union that includes the EU and UKFew people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are incapable of forming such opinions.0 -
Here's what Labour voters thought. And in the Mirror too:

If so many of our talented future trade negotiators live in Barnsley why haven't they sorted out the local economy?0 -

Does the Conservative Government have a competent front bench capable enough of negotiating the UKs exit? They have spend nearly two years demonstrating lack of competence, in decision and division that is putting the Party ahead of the country. Now is the time for statesmanship.
Labour has a different blend of uncertain competence and division I agree but now is the time for serious politicians putting the nation before their Party or their personal ambitions. You can criticise Labour position but please do not pretend the Government is on top of this mess.Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. It seems May moved quickly to rule out continued membership of the customs union – without regard as to whether she had the numbers to get such a proposition through the House of Commons – was because she was terrified the rump of Brextremists would submit the required number of letters to the chair of the Tory parliamentary party demanding a new leadership contest. She is basically a hostage to Mogg and his cronies.0 -

Ah yes.A Barnsley man has admitted he voted leave in the EU referendum 'to stop Muslims coming into the country'.0 -

No doubt there is some truth in this but my concern is simply that she is prepared to jeopardise the future of the island of Ireland, and the standard of living of all the UK for party and personal advantage.Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. As usual the democratic imperative to leave the EU and its incumbent treaties is ignored.“Britain- A friend to all, beholden to none”. 🇬🇧0 -

I though the Norwegians and Swiss paid significant amountsfor Single Market Access, as opposed to Customs Union membership
You are correct. Customs union membership could involve significant payments for other agreements and access. We may know more in the next few days if the EU responds. However the Labour Party are not the ones negotiating. There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.0 -

Again a post focused on a EU that Britain is leaving.
However Spain is not leaving something that puts the future of Ceuta and Mellila in question. There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.0
