Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are incapable of forming such opinions.

You actually believe Putin will take Macron and Merkel seriously?.. Its laughable to suggest Macron and Merkel have any clout on the world stage with regards to military issues.

I'm sure you realise that Germany is in crisis over its lack of a long term military strategy, its Navy for the first time in its entire history has sent its latests ships back to the manufacturers because they performed so badly at the sea trials . The issues with the ships are substantial hardware and software and not easily solved. The German military main Battle rifle the H&K G36 is being replaced "post haste" because its a pile of rubbish in warm weather.......... The leaky drive shaft seals on the QE Carrier is small beer in comparison...

"Merkel & Macron "negotiating" with Putin over Syria ". I genuinely nearly choked on my coffee when reading this. Its as though you think Merkel et al control NATO when in fact Germany has spent little on its military so the best they can do against Putin is more sanctions and they haven't worked so far..

Germany in crisis. Really. Thats just wishful thinking. Germany is the leading country driving the agenda in Europe while we have opted out. Macron and Merkel are negotiating with Putin by the way:-

......and this is how our scientists feel about Brexit:-

    https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2018/feb/25/uk-scientist-says-britons-in-europe-ignored-by-government-mark-mccaughhrean

Astrophysicist Mark McCaughrean says Britons in Europe have been abandoned by the government and hopes that the Conservatives will concentrate their minds on their fellow countrymen and women before sealing a deal with Brussels.

!!!8220;I deeply object to the way that the million of us here in the EU27 have been utterly ignored by the British government, along with the 3 million EU27 citizens in the UK. I!!!8217;m not even sure we!!!8217;ve been used as bargaining chips: we!!!8217;ve simply been considered expendable on the altar of increasingly unpleasant rightwing rhetoric and authoritarianism,!!!8221; he said.

How can who have got what quite so wrong?

According to Fullfact the EU sells us £80 billion more than we sell them.
    Each and every year.
That is more than the entire GDP of EU member countries Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia combined.

The EU are not in a position to demand.
But when has that ever stopped them in the past?

    http://www.thecommentator.com/article/6543/germany_buckles_business_admits_it_needs_uk_market

Firstly; absolute trade deficit is a terrible gauge of who needs who more, albeit the only one that fits the narrative. If trade stopped, what would happen to us/them? What do we import that we can't replace?

Second; if they are in no position to demand, why do they keep demanding with impunity? Why does the .UK team agree to all of these demands?

Either you chose to ignore what I wrote or you need it explaining to you.. I posted "I'm sure you realise that Germany is in crisis over its lack of a long term military strategy".. Which if you bothered to look into you will find its true. Every country has one by the way.

Since WW2 Germany's military strategy has always been self defence however this will need to change. Nations don't plan their military spending in 5yrs cycles they need a long term strategy and use this to decide which types of technologies they need so for instance its no good having inshore defence ships if you need to go around the world in the future to places such as Syria .

The world is changing fast and Germany in particular has been caught with its pants down with regards to a long term planned military strategy. No good making threats to Putin about Syria unless you're willing to back up the threats and Germany and France aren't (as usual).

Politically you think Germany is as stable now as it was a couple of years ago?.. Surely not...;)

I just watched this example showing that there will indeed be Labour dissenters. Unless you think Frank Field's view is unique amongst Labour MP's?
    :D

A bit more here if you want it:

This is where Labour abandons Grimethorpe in favour of Islington.

Replace how. Many sectors of UK manufacturing no longer exist. The UK is service and housing based. Not enough people want to get their hands dirty. Doesn't pay enough.
