Of course they did and I haven’t suggested otherwise. The point that I’m making is that many leavers claim to be fed up with being ruled by the elite whilst simultaneously calling for WRM to be PM. Each to their own but that doesn’t seem hugely logical.
Many possibly but a significant number no.

Not quite. We prefer to be ruled by our own elected government rather than an unelected EU one, elite or otherwise.

    The EU parliament is elected.

There have been plenty of Leavers claiming that they don’t want to be ruled by the metropolitan elite.

You are completely missing my point. I doubt that many remainers will be on one hand complaining about the ruling elite and on the other supporting the most elitist of MPs. I’m basing this on the assumption that in general a remainer wouldn’t want an arch Leaver as PM.

I accept that Farage doesn’t speak for all Leavers but he does have a lot of support. He has been going on about the elite but feels that WRM should lead us. His flock swallow all of this without any semblance of reasoning.

I see that will be the case from 2020 if it will be applied to U.K. is up for discussion and as usual it’s the EU demanding. What will that do for EU tourism especially when all those Americans and Australians can come here without one.

While it might be one of the hundreds of items to be discussed, negotiated and agreed between Britain and the EU common sense and security suggests that the EU are unlikely to give Britain a pass on the ETIAS as it is about monitoring everyone who would enter the Schengen area from anywhere in the world.
It’s not the EU demanding but the EU putting in place a security step that you can decide not to take and therefore not visit the Schengen area. The USA did the same a few years ago.
As you might know many Americans and Australians visit a number of Country’s during a single trip. I don’t think they will be setting out for those trips in the future without spending the nominal amount of money for a ETIAS.
There is a small possibility they won’t make the trip at all meaning everyone misses out on the money those tourists would spend.
Very few people have decided not to travel to the USA because they had to apply for a ESTA.
There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.

One agenda politicians serve a purpose. No difference to local issues being greater than National. Newbury By Pass springs to mind. Issues that directly impact bring people together. Once resolved normal service is resumed.

Here are the stats for voter turnout across the EU in every election for MEPs since 1979:

    https://www.statista.com/statistics/300427/eu-parlament-turnout-for-the-european-elections/

It shows that turnout has reduced in every election from a maximum of 61% in 1979 to 43% in 2014. The only explanation that I can think of for this is that voters see that MEPs are an irrelevance and that they have no power to influence much. The EU really ought to be asking why people don't bother to vote and try to do something about it.

Voting in local elections in the UK has always been low except when they have been held on the same day as a general election.

You are quite right those are shocking numbers. Wether anything will change I don’t know.
We should all be upset by the apathy.
However just because one group can’t be bothered does not excuse another group.
You appear to except the low turnout in local elections. I wonder what the councils can do to get people to bother about their local area and get out and vote.
There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.

Although as you have pointed out voters don’t care very much about being “ruled” by their local council.

They should do. The city of my birth, Bradford, has been shockingly mismanaged for decades to the point that it's become a bad joke. Unlike its neighbour, Leeds, which has been a great success.
