Of course you didn't when we were in the EU, before the EU then that was also Pre 9/11 when countries weren't really serious about security.

    That's a nieve statement.

I know Rees-Mogg seems to resonate with some tories but he would be a gift for the labour party.

Surely you should be delighted at the prospect then.

It's based on reality. You won't turn up at an airport, whip out your blue UK passport and have people bowing and ushering you through.

I won't be voting labour again with Corbyn at the helm although I'd probably make an exception if Rees-Mogg was the conservative leader.

I made an exception for May, she scares the hell out of me. Much more so than Corbyn.
I'd prefer May to hang on until a nice soft brexit has been delivered before the tories start tearing themselves apart over Europe (again). Don't know if that's likely but she's proving more resilient than I gave her credit for.

I don't see her delivering a soft brexit, mainly because she says she isn't going to. I know with her that isn't a very good indication.

With Rees Mogg leading the ERG within the Conservative party, there's a better chance that we will actually leave the EU in the sense that we'll be out of the Single Market, Customs Union and the clutches of the ECJ. If Hammond got his way, none of this would happen. May is clearly terrified of Rees Mogg if you see her reaction whenever he gets on his feet to ask a question.

The tories consist of around 65 hardcore leavers, probably a simlar number of remainers and the rest don't care enough as long as they can hang on to their seats at the next election.

Yes, he certainly will want to avoid the plebs enjoying the benefits of the ECJ, single market etc.

Or being ruled by an unelected, corrupt, undemocratic, and unaccountable self appointed elite in Brussels.

Post brexit you'll likely have to apply for some form of visa or notify travel in advance to enter the EU, unless we accept FOM etc. Surely you must understand this,

Citizens of many countries including USAand Australia do not need a visa to travel to E.U. for less than 90 days do you really think E.U. would treat us differently.

ruled by an unelected, corrupt, undemocratic, and unaccountable self appointed elite .

You've just described the British state.

Unelected Lords, unelected head of state, endemic corruption (MP expenses scandal, etc), and the entire system dominated by the elites that appoint themselves and their mates to all the key positions.

The EU is infinitely better, more democratic, and more accountable.

I can elect my owm MP and I can elect my own MEP. The difference is that my MP can propose legislation but my MEP cannot. My MEP can only discuss legislation handed down to him by the EU Commission.

I did not vote for them and I cannot get rid of them which makes them completely unaccountable to anyone but themselves. In what way is that democratic?
