Brexit, the economy and house prices part 5

So the Catalonia news is just on, the independence party edged it, the Spanish PM seems to have 'done a May'.
Is there a malaise creeping across the EU?
- First UK Brexits
- Germany fails to form a govt due to many extremist MPs getting in
- Austria forced to form a coalition with Nationalist extreme right wing party
- Spain in Catalonian independence crisis
- Nearly forgot Poland, being sanctioned by EU on it's right-wing ruling partys disregard for rule of law.
Now tell me the above is not part of a pattern.
The UK looks like a paragon of common sense compared.
Your statement about Germany is incorrect.
As others have mentioned you forgot Corsica, Scotland and parts of Belgium. You see a pattern I see modern society.
I forgot to mention that the British Government is only governing with the help of an extremist group who have been give a large sum of money to cooperate. There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.0 -
On the radio this evening: EU is well advanced in it's plans for British passport holders to have to register ETIAS style and pay a fiver to enter what's left of the EU in 2020 or so.
Assuming that's true then I'm fairly sure that this
https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2017/aug/17/eu-citizens-no-visas-visit-uk-after-brexit
is not going to happen. The UK will have to impose a reciprocal scheme (to include the standard ETIAS-type checks, why are you visiting, where are you staying) on EU visitors to the UK.
Why? 'Cos UK voters will insist on it.
Pre FOM it took 2 minutes to fill out a VISA card on arrival so its never been a hardship or a costly one. On arriving in Venice last year travelling from Croatia on the hydrofoil the NON EU queue (mostly made up of Kiwi,Aussies and Americans) passed through immigration far quicker than the shorter EU queue so the loss of FOM for UK citizens means very little in reality..
Hope we also sort out a proper system for collecting the DART charge for the Dartford Crossing from EU visitors whist they are here in the UK rather than trying to get the money after they have returned home.0 -
An inordinate amount of Remainers getting their knickers in a twist over the return of the blue passport it has to be said. The level of vitriol on Twitter is bordering on the pathological.
It is silly I agree. The colour change is nothing to do with the EU. Britain could choose any colour at any time. It’s just bazaar that Britain has decided to spend a reported £500 million changing it now when there is no money tree. There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.0 -
Please don’t make these false allegations of Country’s suspending Schengen.
If the site of security leads you to believe this sort of thing what do you make of armed police officers at Heathrow and Victoria Station.
I really thought that false claims were a thing of the past. I thought we were all getting more grown up about our posts. I am certainly trying.

you're probably on my ignore list.0 -

No more bizarre than spending £billions we don't have on foreign aid or £12 billion a year on EU membership.. You do realise we still have a deficit each year don't you so in fact any of those examples could be seen as being borrowed money.........0 -

The EU-ETIAS was being put together well before a Britain decided to go through the complex process of leaving the EU.
It should be assumed the UK-ETIAS will be introduced at a similar time as the EU version. No one should be under the impression this is about Brexit.

I am quite excited about the new passport. I don't care what colour it is, but it has new security features that make it harder to forge as it is made out of polymers rather than paper.
Does anyone know whether it was going through anyway and they just decided to announce a colour change? Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

I know how you feel about the DART charge. I live in Luxembourg and even with a “foreign” number plate it is easy to register on the web site with a C/C and pay the fee.
However you should also understand that cross border speeding tickets is slowly being rolled out through the EU. Britain has not signed up to it and probably never will given the future.
This means that if for example I get flashed in France a few weeks later a fine drops in to my letter box in Luxembourg.
However it also means if I get flashed in Britain I will not get a fined. This equally applies to British speeders in the EU.There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.0 -
