One week until payday. I'm counting down the days until I can pay off CC3 :D. I've made do with a £5 payment to CC3 today.

Have just put in the oven a chocolate fudge cake  (well I've made them as cupcakes). It's a new recipe I'm trying. Have got a busy day tomorrow baking cakes for a family birthday party. Fingers crossed I won't regret offering to bring the cakes!

Hope the cake was successful, if not, feel free to send it to me, I'd hate to see it go to waste :D:D

  • Ha ha! Wish I could send you some Jwil. We've got cake coming out of our ears! Seems I may have baked a bit too much - was sent home with a load of birthday cake and a tub full of cupcakes. Had such a brilliant day with the family. The DC had loads of fun playing with their cousins and seeing extended family. Weather was glorious and overall was just a chilled out fun day.

I decided last night to open a S&s isa with vanguard and have transferred £500 in to it. Hoping to transfer a small amount each month in to it going forward. There were so many to choose from, but the vanguard one popped up on the mse info page about isa's and there's no exit fee if I want to swap in the future. Should have the account properly set up this week.

In other news I found our wills and having looked at it have realised that DC3 isn't included!! We made them prior to having DC3, but I presumed there was a generic all children statement rather than naming the Dc. So, we need to get our wills redone :(. Have contacted the solicitors we had them prepared by last time and they've said we need new wills not amendments which will cost £260 for mirror wills. Does anyone know if I can just find a new cheaper solicitor to do a new will or would I have to somehow cancel the old ones first? any advice would be very much appreciated.

Hope everyone's had a good weekend.

I'm not an expert, but I think you put a statement in the new will saying all previous ones are null and void. You can certainly go elsewhere if you want to.

Thanks jwil. Will have a look at prices of other wills today. The lazy option would be just informing the current solicitors of DC3s name, but I think I should be able to get a new one about £80 cheaper, so I need to not be lazy!

Had an email from m&s credit card (one of DHs CCs) saying the 0% promotional rate ends next month. Has thrown me a bit, but I think it's a 0% deal on purchases and not related to the balance transfer we did earlier in the year (I've got the 0% date as Sept 2020). Well I'm really hoping it is on new purchases!

DH and I had a discussion about the CCs again. I was telling him that I'd like the debt gone ASAP and that I was a bit stressed that it's all taking so long and that we don't really have much savings for the future. The outcome is that he doesn't have an issue with being in debt.. he's still of the opinion that as we're able to make monthly repayments we're doing fine. Sometimes wish he was more on the journey with me.

    Morning,

Haven't booked for the DC to go to forest school today, so have sent £10 to CC3 instead.

DH and I have been discussing whether we're likely to have any more kids and it appears the answer is no. I was completely set on not having more, but it just seems so sad now that it's been said out loud :(. If we're not having any more DC then I really need to start selling all the baby stuff. Will be good to get the loft space back, but dreading doing it!

Hoping the rain holds off today so we can go for a walk with the kids. Hope everyone has a good day.

    June's debt roundup.

    Joint debt at 28/06/19
    CC1 - £0
    CC2 - £0
    CC3- £0 - another one bites the dust :j
    CC4 - £10,400

    Total debt - £10,400.
    (Total debt at 31/5/19 - £10,999).

    DH Course CCs
    CC1 - £1,468.75
    CC2 - £4,856.00
    CC3 - £2,988.73

    Total debt - £9,313.48
    Total at 31/5/19 - £9,801.01

The total CC debt is now £19,713.47 (£20,800.01 at end of May).

Glad to see the total debt now under £20k and it feels brilliant to have cleared CC3. Have put an extra £50 to the EF at payday rather than put it to the Cc. The next card on the hit list is DH course CC1. The 0% ends in March 2020, so it'll easily be cleared before then. The challenge is how quickly I can get shot of it!

Need to look again at the budget for next month and see how much I'm able to put in the EF. Don't think I'm going to be able to make my earlier goal of getting the EF to £5k by December, not unless I drastically reduce the CC repayments (which I don't want to do).

Exercise wise I'm at 5 sessions for the month and hopefully will add another tomorrow. Better than the month before, but really should be getting at least 2 exercise sessions in a week.

NSDs were less than planned, although had quite a few LSDs. Again will try harder in July.

    Morning,

All savings money has been sent to the correct pots this month. EF is now at £1,650, so it's slowly improving. The £280 payment for one of DHs CCs has come out today.

This month we've got extra gas & electric payments coming out :(. We switched energy supplier last month, so this month we've got the final bill for the old supplier & the dd payment for the new one. Hopefully in the long run it'll work out cheaper. Going to add up all my gas & electric bills for the last year and divide it by 12 to get a rough monthly dd figure. The new energy supplier allows you to set your own dd figure, so will either try and make it the figure I calculate or if the dd set is lower keep it at that amount, but transfer the difference to a savings account ready for the winter payments.

Got a quiet day at home today. We're going away for a couple of days from tomorrow, so need to pack a few bits. We're off to the Goodwood Festival of Speed on Friday, which should be really good. Hope everyone's ok :).

    Morning,

We had a brilliant time at Goodwood Festival of speed on Friday. Walked over 6.5miles walking round the festival. The DC did brilliantly walking that far. Will definitely go back again another year, but might skip next year and go back when the Dc are a bit older. Downside is DH is now looking at newer cars again and keeps mentioning needing a new car (which he doesn't need).

Money wise 2 Cc payments for DHs CCs have gone out today. Really need to change the DDs to set amounts each month, as it's driving me crazy having £74.71 coming out and not a nice rounded number. DHs CCs have dropped in to the £8k bracket, which is motivating to see.

Just before we went away DH has broken one of his teeth, which is going to cost over £200 to fix :(. I have money in the EF to cover it, but it's so frustrating.

Anyway best get on. Hope everyone has a good day :).
