Morning,
Has been too long since I've updated my diary (*slaps wrist*). Life has seemed more stressful than normal this week, even though things aren't really any different. Well the DC have been arguing a lot more.
I'm now up to 3 NSDs and 4 exercise days this month. Seems a bit rubbish, especially the NSDs, but DH has been doing diy jobs and going to b&q for bits and bobs most days .
Money wise the usual DDs have come out for the CCs. Rounded down the bank account and sent £12 to CC3 today.
Not much else to report really. Need to find more motivation to get up & get on today!
Hope everyone has a good day.
Ps. Thanks for the holiday ideas Jwil. We're most probably going to try a last minute type deal nearer September and hopefully get a cheap deal somewhere.LBM Aug 2017.

Evening,
Since my last update I've sent £20 to CC3. Can't believe we're already over half way through the month.
I've spent the last couple of nights reading rather than binge watching tv and it's been absolutely heaven. Should definitely do it more often. I downloaded the barefoot investor book yesterday, which I have been enjoying. The principles of the book about how to split your income and save for the future make real sense. It's definitely made me think about life after debt and how I can improve our future. In the book they recommend spending 60% of your net salary on your everyday bills, but I've looked at mine and my bills just don't fit in to the category split! It's really annoying! I know this most probably won't make any sense unless you've read the book. I can see how living off 60% of your wages work, but I can't seem to decide whether some expenses are everyday expenses or more of a splurge, for instance I presume the annual zoo membership I save for should be a splurge (non everyday expense which is indulgent for us). He also mentions how great it is putting money in the stock market, as there's more potential for growth. I like this idea and I've been toying with the idea of putting some of the money I inherited in to this, but just not sure whether it's a whim and such a small amount (around £1k) that I should just shove it in a savings account.
Anyway, I know this is an incredibly waffly post. It's been nice reading about other people's money techniques. Hopefully their good practices will rub off!LBM Aug 2017.

Morning
Bank checks and ynab update done. Have paid £25 off CC3. Balance is now £325 - this will definitely be gone this month, which I am sooooo excited about.
Spending the morning with my parents, which will be really nice. The DC love seeing them & the dogs and are super excited to be going round theirs.
Still reading the barefoot investor. Think I'll re-read it afterwards to absorb it all!
Hope everyone has a good day.

I don't know if Brizzle follows the barefoot investor, but she works out each month the proportion of her wages saved etc, it might be worth seeing how she allocates things"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Thanks Jwil. Will go and have a look at Brizzle's diary

Keep forgetting to update my exercise and NSD figures. 5 NSDs (think 10 was my goal, will have to read back) and 4 exercise days (8 is my goal) this month.LBM Aug 2017.

Have transferred £25 to CC3 today. Spent a few hours yesterday doing accounts work, which I really enjoyed. Is nice being able to get stuck in sorting out lots of figures! The downside is I only have the dining table to do the work, so just as I was getting a handle on it all, it was dinner time and I had to pack it all away! Hoping to spend another hour later today doing it. Should be able to complete our tax returns by the end of this month, which will be a relief. At least if there is any additional tax to pay it'll give me a good few months to save up for it.
Have been binge reading some new diaries recently. I find others debt free wannabe diaries really interesting and motivating. There's usually some good food for thought mentioned.
Hope everyone has a good day. It's a busy one for us today.LBM Aug 2017.

Hi debtfreeoneday ,
Thanks for stopping by. Always good to have people on the DF journey with me. Can't wait for the CCs to be gone so we can then start to tackle the mortgage.
