It all happens at once doesn't it!
I find that couple of hours in the evening when the kids are in bed invaluable. I'm not surprised you missed it."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0 -
Well it's been a busy few days. Have had a sort out of our cupboards to move some of the DCs toys out of the way. This way they have access to less toys, but can see more clearly what is available. Still got more sorting to do, but so far it's a hit. They're playing with games and jigsaws they haven't used in months!
Money wise £380 has come out today for 2 of DHs CCs. Had a chat with DH yesterday about money. He said he was really pleased with how the debts are going down and that he most probably would have just spent extra cash rather than getting the debts down if he'd been in charge. Quite enjoyed the pat on the back.
In other news DH has fractured his finger whilst at work . Hoping he's still ok to do his job, as being self employed he doesn't get sick pay or anything. It's definitely made it more obvious that we need a 3 month salary buffer. This will definitely be added to the list, but not sure I can accomplish it at the moment and reduce the debts. I know it's not ideal, but if the worst happened and our small EF didn't cut it, we do always have a spare CC available. Hoping it'll never get to this stage though.
Will do July round up in a second.
Hope everyone has a good day.
PS. For any of you stuck for things to do with the kids, we've just discovered the pawprint badges. They are free challenge packs you can do a few activities from (eg. There's a bee badge and you can make honey cake as one of the activities). Once you've completed the bits you can buy the embroidered badge if you want to (not sure if there's postage, but was about £2 for the badge). I'm going to do a couple of badges with the DC. Will just do the activities for the time being and then buy a few badges at once to save any postage costs.LBM Aug 2017.

The total CC debt is now £18,651.00 (£19,713.47 at end of June).
In the £18ks. Only a few more months before DHs CC1 bites the dust! It's all coming down nicely. Have to remind myself at times that it's a long game and won't happen overnight. Cannot wait for the day the last CC gets paid off, or even the debt being below £10k.
I am really proud of how far we've come. I definitely wouldn't have achieved it without this amazing forum. Looking at my trusty Cc spreadsheet is pretty motivational - in March 2018 our total debt was at its highest at £41,850 (inc DHs CCs). Never ever want to be in this position again!LBM Aug 2017.

Fantastic achievement. I agree building up a bigger buffer as your DH is SE is sensible. A massive reduction in just over a year though in the debt so things will look different in a years time.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. Thanks Jwil
.
We've had some extra work DH completed paid today, so I've managed to pay £370 to DHs CC1. Looking at the balance of this card (£455) I should get this paid off this month. Will be really satisfying to get rid of another card.
Need to phone our mortgage company soon to arrange our remortgage. I'm hoping by phoning them they'll be able to fix both parts of our mortgage, rather than leaving the small £2.5k on a variable rate. Although will only do this if they don't charge me two admin fees.
Hope everyone's having a good week.LBM Aug 2017.

2 DDs have come out today, so £202.75 has come off the CCs. September will be the month when CC4s balance finally gets to under £10k - cannot wait!! Total debt is currently at £17,668.25. Will be much happier when it's under £15k.
Swimming lessons have been cancelled today, so we can have a more leisurely day and have also saved some cash. Also managed to sell some bits on gumtree last night, so that's extra money in our pocket.

The days are flying past at the moment. It's scary how quickly time is going - still not sure how it's August already!!
This weekend I've transferred £15 to the CC. Hopefully should be receiving a refund for the DCs climbing sessions that were cancelled, sometime next week, so will throw this at the debt when it arrives.
We've had a relatively quiet few days, which has been nice. Hoping to get out and about more next week, which should burn some of the DCs energy off. Tomorrow we are starting 4 days of no electronics (well none for the DC and very reduced for me & DH). It was DHs idea, which is really surprising as he is the worst for being glued to his phone. Am actually looking forward to it. So might not update on here for the next few days.
Hope everyone has a good week.

Good luck with no electronics! It's surprising how much I achieve when I ban myself from them!"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0
