Am I right that paying in the £1k within 31 days of switch and then another £1k between days 32 to 62 doesnt necessarily need to come from your employer paying your salary in? I'm considering changing my bank account where I am paid to my alternative NatWest account and then transferring £1k from that each time.
    As per 18cc said:
I have a written response from CB that it is £1k within 31 days following the switch day, and another £1k in the 2nd 31 day period following the switch day. They agree the wording could have been better.

Having said that, it isn't an onerous task adding in another £1k deposit in between, as you can in-out, in-out, in-out it - to cover both interpretations and avoid any argument .

It can be useful for any newbie who comes on here and may not understand about credit scores. Hopefully too it saves contributor Z81 time in having to keep spilling out the same message about how useless the score is.
Without wanting to steer this off course after the person before you took it off track, putting it as my signature was for this exact reason. When the "credit rating" forum was started it was inundated with people posting about "my credit score" and wondering why it was high when they had several defaults or low with a perfect repayment history and it was easier than numerous posts letting them know that they did not have "a credit score".
I can appreciate the irony of how pointing out irrelevance can in itself be seen as irrelevant but just to be clear, I do agree with what you say in your signature but am just questioning the value of repeating it everywhere you post. We could all fill up signatures with frequently-posted comments to newbies ("always read the Ts & Cs", "the AER *isn't* halved for regular saver interest", "anything paying 8% involves risk", etc, etc) but that sort of indiscriminate approach would clog the place up pretty quickly so IMHO such things are best left to stickies in the relevant places.

Anyway, back to the main thread again....

OK now Katiehound has got me thinking.

T&C: You'll need to make sure £1,000 is deposited in the new account within 31 days of the completion of the switch, and another £1,000 must follow in the next 31 days.

STRICTLY SPEAKING this should be read exactly as it states ie pay in two lots of £1000. Note you can't pay in £1010, nor can you pay in four lots of £250.

    My head hurts.
  • You're thinking too much.
As long as you make deposits totalling £1000 or more, in that 31 day window, you're golden.

I have made 2 £500 deposits in the first 31 days of switching and i will do the same in the 2nd 31 days. It does not have to be 2 exact £1000 payments-- jeeeeeez
    :T
  • Ha ha its not the paying in of the £1000 that caused my headache it was trying to take it back out again .....had to do it £500 twice . First bank account I've had that don't let you move more than £500 at a time without a security key thingy !
  • used the ipad app to transfer money in and out just now very seemless leaving money for the direct debits that will be due. Their online banking is different i don't even have any payee's on the online section for some reason.

I was hoping i'd use clydesdale bank more often as i liked the look of them but if even basic information isn't available that is available on the app then i don't think i'll bother. Might give then another chance once the £250 payment has been credited see if the online banking has improved.
  • me too, just used iPad app to return the £1000 I sent over yesterday, always been a smooth operation so far

Is this true? I need to set up a standing order for £800 into another account for the mortgage each month. How do you get a security key and what is it - a passcode, card reader similar to Natwest/Co-Op, something else?
