OK, he started off by working part time for one company in one store. At the time he was stocking shelves of dvds, cds, books, games and haircare. Then the book part of the company got bought out by another company so he had to start working for 2 companies but the work was exactly the same. Then company two offered him more hours to make it up to full time in 3 separate shops so he accepted. Then company 1 went bankrupt so he was only left with the hours from comapny 2. All this has happened in the space of just over a year. Sometimes he doesn't get paid on his normal payday and they will send him a text or a letter to say that his wages will be a week late due to an admin error.

He's looking for full time work but its really difficult.

  • bs ~ i know what job he does as someone i know does the same and i looked into doing it. Basically its like woolworths/asda pay an outside company to manage there books/other items (each company will hire differnt companys to sort one or more area). Now the said company employs workers to visit each store X time per week to replenish/order/restack the shelves (so more sales). Now this works if the employee has a car as they spend 2 hours in one store, travel for 10min~1 hour and then onto the next store. The company then pays the hours you work in the store and your milage/petrol. Now when i looked into it this i didnt drive so taking into account bus fares (not paid for) and time yes the hourly pay is nothing, hence why i didnt take it. These jobs are ideal for mums/flexi workers but if you cant drive trhey dont work too well.

Good luck to your oh trying to find a better job though bs

On those sort of wages daughter would probably get approx £30 per week EMA & £10 pocket money. Thats £160 a month to herself.

Make her pay the dress money back!!

    Wages job 1 - £296.00
    Wages job 2 - £178.00
    WTC - £40.00
    Child Benefit - £70.00

    Total - £704.00

There's one problem - that total is £584

If his income was that low surely he'd be entitled to housing benefit.

Surely on those wages he is entitled to Child tax credit for his daughter.

Why doesn't he just ask for a job at one of the supermarkets, stacking shelves or collecting trollies? He lives in London , I don't think those sort of jobs are hard to come by.

yes. i had assumed the WTC was a weekly figure whilst everything else is monthly. works out if you add another 3 weeks worth of WTC

  • hey sorry, seems like its glaring to everyone else here, but the child, who is acting as an adult, isnt willing to get her hands dirty

life is cruel and hard and soon she will have to put her toes in the water

and the more he allows her to behave in such a manner then the longer he will be in debt

he has to get tough, then she will understand !"!

sorry, just the facts of life here
