I would hardly call working from 6am to 4pm 6 days a week for £108 normal.
He could earn that working half those hours.

Oh no, defo not normal :D

I meant - what's normal is not being paid for travel when you're self-employed. If his jobs were closer together, he could fit more work into those hours, but maybe there's no other work available at the mo?

You must love him an awful lot to be considering marrying someone earning less than £500 a month. I know money isn't everything but I'd find life pretty miserable without it.
Do you know how jealous that sounds and how shallow and petty? Yes I do really love him. We are getting married next year. We support each other in everything even if we don't agree with what the other is doing. Money doesn't even come into it. I would still love him if he lived on the streets and didn't have 2 pennies to rub together and I would give him everything I have. I pity your husband if he knows you would have finished with him if he didn't have any money.

Fair enough but common sense would tell you that if it takes you an hour or more to travel by bus to each assiggnment and you have to pay for this yourself, all whilst earning a measly £108 then you need to be looking at another carreer option.
As for there being no work available, there is always work if people want it, he's got no other commitments so isnt exactly stuck for childcare etc, plus the fact he lives in london means that there are plenty of jobs.

OK, I've just found out he works 22 hours a week and the rest of the time is spent walking from one store to another.

    yeah yeah bs.
EDIT - well goign on from the OP, if your ferlla feels he hasnt got enough money in his pocket, maybe he should try full time work, with a 17 year old there is no excuse.
And i'm baffled as to why the 22 hours and walking has only just come to light seing as 'your OH' read this thread

So he doesn't eat his lunch on the bus then?

Those hours are more reasonable but it's still a low wage.

Can't you get him down with his shopping BS as you feed your bigger family on so much less? ;)

Occasionally he will get the bus from job to job if it's too far to walk but as he doesn't get his travelleing expenses back he prefers to walk if he can.

I have spoken to him about OS cooking before and it just goes over his head. He's not much good at cooking.

I really don't see the problem BS. If he's happy in this job and his incomings exceed his outgoings then why does he need to cut back further?

Glad you found out how many hours he works. That is a part time job and would affect the entitlement that Jacks kindly posted above but it is still worth a look.

    Hi

I have not read this thread before, and having just read back a few pages I feel pretty surprised at the teasing/bullying tone of some of the replies to the OP. How is this helping?

If you cannot be supportive and if there are inconsistencies in the OP posts which are not resolved to your satisfaction try to ignore this thread.

This site asks us to be nice to all money savers. I can't help feeling the site was not restored for this kind of dialogue.

    Best wishes
