There's no skin, bone, or intestines KK :) It took about an hour to deal with it this time because I was trying (with far too much supervision) to portion it up into meals for the three different consumers. Small bits for Stripey cat, medium bits for Stinky, huge lumps for not-Fatty. I don't have quite the right range of containers to do this properly, but I have got some specific bits portioned up for individuals, which will be useful if they are being looked after by other people, and some tubs for general use which I'll use. Having actually weighed it all this time, it looks like one muntjac will last us about 10 days. I can fit about 4 in the freezer at a time.

Am shattered after all that standing and chopping and then ferrying it out to the freezer. Poor Stinky is feeling neglected. Annoyingly Stripey cat has gone outside (no idea why, given that it is definitely raining out there!) so will probably be round at the front door setting off the camera demanding to get in shortly. This is the first time either of them have been out after curfew for ages. Not-Fatty is asleep in her cat tree as outside is wet and might require her moving.

I'd quite like to have a bath tonight, but not sure I have the energy!

Need to drag myself off the sofa, tidy up, take Stinky out, shout for Stripey cat, wash Stinky's feet, scrub his toe with hibiscrub, and massage his pads with coconut oil. And then finish my book as I need to read a different one for work by the end of this week.

Stripey cat was inside, hiding in the cat tunnel, clearly cross that I didn’t give her more muntjac. No idea why the cat flap thought she was outside (maybe she looked out, saw the rain, and reversed back indoors).

Headachy today, but Stripey woke me up with cuddles rather than demands to go out, so I had a (relatively) relaxing half hour before letting everyone out. Made coffee straight away and came back to bed. Slightly longer pre-breakfast walk, distributed breakfast, reviewed some audio edits, did Pilates, and now need to take the dog out again, wash his feet, and then have a shower and wash my hair as I’m out at book group tonight, I then need to write some scripts and record them before meetings start.

Outside is cold - not freezing though, vaguely sunny, and most importantly, not raining!

Headachy again today, but mostly because I went out last night (book group) and had wine and went to bed late. Not a good idea when I'm not well. Sun is shining today, but we're not spending time outside or walking as I'm not well enough and I have to recover for my hygienist appointment tomorrow.

I've got quite a bit of personal admin to do as well:

    1. Chase both Karcher and Dunhelm for updates
    2. Take all the videos Sure want to check the issues with Stripey cat's feeder (it's an intermittent problem, so I suspect they'll wash their hands of it)
    3. Log back in to Norton on my phone
    4. Research options for new phones as both my mum and I will need new ones soon
    5. Find my endowment policy statement - I'm sure I've had one recently but can't locate it anywhere (must get better at filing things straight away)
    6. Sort out change of address on three pensions from (the same) previous employer
    7. Work out where I want to consolidate at least the two big personal pensions and 3 small ex-employer pensions (the bulk of my money is with either Aviva or HL as they are old employer pensions that converted to personal ones)
    8. Work out how to close Fidelity S&S ISA with hardly anything in it, as it was set up by a financial advisor whose details I no longer have any contact with (or details of)
    9. Start sorting out my LPAs now I have confirmed that the people I want to be my attorneys are prepared to do the job
    10. Update my will (I've told everyone I'm leaving it all to the animals - not quite, but I do need to make provision for their care should anything happen to me)
    11. Review the heat pump design and decide whether to commission one elsewhere or ask the current plumber to make changes to the design.

I've managed to log in to HL. I have 12 funds with them, but am only actively investing in 6 of them (when I've changed my investments, I've tended to leave existing investments alone rather than selling and buying something new - possibly not the best option, but some of the older funds weren't worth much when I stopped buying them and have happily increased in value while being ignored).

I've also reviewed Aviva again, and I have 10 funds there.

The simplest option would be to move everything to Aviva and transfer into the 10 funds I have there. However, their online tools aren't as good as HLs, so it makes it harder to do any analysis. But I think they are cheaper…

The good news from HL is that I'm on target for retirement at 67 based on my pensions. Although there are a lot of assumptions in there. I'm pretty sure that this means I can start to bring the date forward, as I won't need the income they suggest (I hope!) once I have finished work on the house (hopefully end of this year and can up the pension contributions/OP the mortgage/start building savings again.

I still need to sort out the 3 tiny employer pensions and find my endowment policy info (I think that pays out at 65, which means I can pretty safely say I'll be able to retire at 65 rather than 67).

Lots more to work out, but I need to get the numbers sorted and then get back into the habit of a monthly review/analysis/adjustment.

Well done with the pensions work - it is indeed exhausting!

Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!

I have to admit I'm considering talking to a financial advisor. I don't want to be sold anything, just pay them for their time to periodically sit down with me and go through stuff and help me make some of the decisions. But I still want to self-manage the investments.

Day off tomorrow, but cleaner comes while I'm out, so I need to get tidied up tonight/first thing so she can actually do her job…
