Had a lovely lunch out with friends in a local pub, followed by a walk with the younger ones while my mum and her friend stayed at mine for coffee. Small child got a bit hyper towards the end and was getting Stinky overexcited, but TBH by 4ish it was probably time they left anyway!

My mum and I have made some decisions on where pictures need to go, and others are propped up being considered. She's headed off home and I'm having a couple of minutes downtime before I need to prep my food and then deal with the ravenous carnivores.

Two more muntjac for pet food and one more for people food are being delivered to my mum's tomorrow so I need to arrange to meet up with her or go and collect them on Monday or Tuesday. And then invite people over to eat venison as I have quite a lot of chinese water deer in the freezer too.

I've realised I'm quite short of veg, so need to get out into the veg plot tomorrow to pull some leeks and pick some chard/spinach if there is any as well as weed the asparagus bed, and then think about what i'm going to eat next week. I have sweet pots, green beans, frozen (home grown) peas, tomatoes and possibly a red pepper to have with the tuna that needs cooking tonight. And some pulses. And that plus the remains of yesterday's poussin with veg will give me a couple of meals for during the week.

Have planted 250 snowdrops at my mum's and chopped up two muntjac carcasses for pet food and frozen them.

Have 250 snowdrops to plant here tomorrow.

I need to decide on roses and order before bare root season finishes - I may need to move some of the three by the patio as they were originally intended for obelisks and will now be on posts and wire.

I need four in total on the post & wire round the patio, four for the obelisks that are being moved, and I think two to go on the trellis with the winter and summer honeysuckles.

I've already got Generous Gardener on the trellis outside the garage/my new office, and Gertrude Jekyll, Blush Noisette, and Claire Austin in the ground where the obelisks were.

Other options on my list are:

Compassion, Mutabilis, Albertine, Mme Gregoire Staechlin, Paul's Himalayan Musk, Constance Spry, Awakening, David Hockney, Mme Alfred Carriere, Meg, Mary Delaney, James Galway, and New Dawn.

Albertine might work up the old apple tree which may or may not be alive (it has honey fungus and was over-enthusiastically pruned). And the Paul's Himalayan Musk might work better on wire along a fence.

@greenbee - are you looking for a rose that blooms once or one that has continuous blooms - your list has a mixture of both! - also if you are growing up a tree, the lighter smaller blooms might work better as old trees often have fragile limbs. I've been thinking about New Dawn for my old cheery tree, but am worried the tree will not bear the weight!

Read, did Pilates, hung up cleaning cloths washed last night, bunged a mixed wash in the machine, took Stinky outside to move logs/sticks and plant snowdrops. The bunches of 25 have closer to 50 in them, so lots have been put in at the front and I'm having a break. WM emptied and Stinky's towels shoved in, and I'm now on hold to Karcher as they don't yet have an update from head office from Friday who were apparently going to chase the courier company.

And… DHL have lost the parcel again, so Karcher are now sending a replacement out to arrive tomorrow at the latest… I'll believe it when I see it :) (I did say I hoped they were using a different courier company!)

So… I need to put washing on the line and walk Stinky, then have coffee and get my head together for my 1pm meeting. Slightly worryingly, there's no sign of our new starter online yet.

Tracked down the new starter who was having tech problems (not a good look for us on day one!).

Spoke to Octopus, and they credited me with my export while I was on the phone… I am now in credit again. Even with the drop in export prices due next month, I don't think I'll be paying them anything for a while.

So priorities now need to be planting the rest of the snowdrops, making decisions on the heat pump, and making a start on the garage conversion (with timelines).

Stinky's towels are still on the line, but my clothes are dry, so I'm not really bothered :)

Those are real wins with Karcher and Sure (Really hoping the Karcher delivery actually arrives this time …! 🤞🏻)

Well done on the Pilates and walking as well. 😊
Stinky mate, hold still whilst Greenbee washes your feet, yes …? 😉

Sorry to hear about the reorg thing … Maybe it will be an opportunity to jettison some aspects of the role you have outgrown or got bored of and take on something new? Your new-old boss may have some suggestions too?

fingers crossed new job role can be made exactly as you (and Stinky) require.

Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!
