The problem with having two cats KK (one of which is clearly a labrador that accidentally ended up in a cat body) is that the moment I even think about going near the utility room there is someone hanging about...
First load of whites is in the TD, second is in the WM and will probably end up on the airer overnight. I've realised I have 5 more loads (ish) to do.
Opening the windows has let a couple of flies in, so not-Fatty is busy hurling herself at the windows and getting her own snacks...
I've weeded one asparagus bed (one bucket compostable - in the hotbin, half a bucket not and going in the garden waste bins), given the animals lunchtime snacks, put one lick mat in the freezer, made my lunch and am going to eat it, make another lick mat up, and the go and shove strawberry runner round the edge of the asparagus bed. Realistically I'll only get one done today. But better than not getting any done. There's one more asparagus bed, one general bed, and two raspberry beds left to sort out. Along with all the paths...2 -
Asparagus bed is now edged with strawberry runners. Didn't do anymore as the temperature was dropping as the sun goes down. Coffee has been drunk and fruit eaten (trying to get back on track with eating properly), so I need to check the laundry progress and then take Stinky out for another walk seeing as it's the weekend. Then shift logs from the hall to the sitting room ready for more log shifting from the porch to the hall and garden to log store/porch tomorrow.
Also need to chop veg ready to cook tonight as I have YS fish that needs using, and then have a quiet evening reading this month's book club book.3 -
Stinky has been walked, more lick mats are made up ready to freeze, and a barrow load of sticks/scrap wood has been moved. Laundry hasn't quite finished, so will need to go on the airer later as the solar has stopped generating. The stuff that was in the TD did dry however (using solar) and is ready to put in the airing cupboard. I need to use the oven tonight, so I'll see how much charge I have left after that and decide whether to put a short/cool wash on before bed to go on the other airer and then another one during a cheap slot overnight when I'm charging the battery - I've just checked and have 2.5 continuous hours that I'm setting for charging so I can do a longer wash.
Stinky and not-Fatty are convinced it is supper time. They've been waiting patiently for half an hour and have another 90 minutes of being patient to go...2 -
How's the list going? Not bad considering... and I have dealt with an asparagus bed as well. Tomorrow's list will still include laundry. And needs to have radiator bleeding added to it...
- Pay for trellis work
- Pay gardener
- Chop up BNS and pressure cook in IP
- Shove a load of laundry in the machine
- Walk dog
- Washing up and remember to message repair guy DW has cleared error code so will try running an eco cycle and if it works keep going until it packs up again.
- Salad for lunch (need to start eating properly, I’ve put on a lot of weight recently) and sort fridge
- More laundry
- Move more logs
- Another dog walk
- Prep lots of veg and cook with fish for supper - freeze leftovers
- Heat pump info to plumber
- Book club book Progress is slower than I'd like. Think I need to have a nice long bath tomorrow to get into it properly
- Look at building control website
- Keep doing laundry
- Hang pictures in big ensuite
- Sort out bedroom corner shelf
- Get robots cleaning
- List stuff on FBMP
- Start clearing garage

Outside is horrid, so Stinky has only had a short walk so far, and a trip to the back of the garden to barrow more wood to the garage (luckily he's got a big kong to keep him occupied). Also not much solar generation.
Yesterday's laundry mostly dried on the airers overnight, so has been put away/rearranged. Overnight load of towels etc is on the upstairs towel rails (but they're not on because the house is warm...). A couple more lick mats have been made up and frozen, and the last of the mix will go into kongs - I need to do another BNS to get them all done.
I've had a shower and washed my hair, which I find fairly exhausting, so planning a fairly slow afternoon. I could do with filling a couple of kongs, getting the kitchen tidy, de-bobbling a wool dress that is waiting for a wool wash, sticking some chicken wings in the SC so Stripey cat has some meat and I have some meat/stock, and shifting logs into the sitting room.
I've done half the bedroom shelf, but had to order some museum putty to secure things properly (due today). I try to avoid amazon (and have cancelled my Prime renewal) so ordered a whole lot of batteries I know I'll need for the cat feeders/cat flap.
I looked at the building control website and lost the will to live...
Eating better, and making sure I get my fermented foods in. If the kitchen is ever sorted out I'd like to start making at least some of them myself.2 -
Another short walk done and a chat to neighbours. Then an attempt to rest, so have been watching stuff online while debobbling two woollen dresses that have clearly seen better days. They're still fine on video, and for dog walking, but I like them so have managed to find two more in the sale.5

I dread to think how much oil I’m using, but have finally managed (halfway through my third winter here!) to get the heating working so the house feels comfortable. The way I’m running it should be more cost effective using a heat pump, so I need to get on with organising that! Hot water is now cooler, but still hot (and less likely to scald anyone not expecting it to be stupidly hot).
Wool wash dried overnight and is now in the airing cupboard, and the duvet covers that were washed overnight are on the airers. Chicken is in the fridge, but needs taking off the bones. DW is ready to run once there’s some sign of solar generation, although I’m not expecting much. Bedcover can be washed tonight, and cleaning cloths after that.I could do with being organised and prepping food for after work. Ideally I’d eat earlier, but as the earliest I finish work is 6pm that presents difficulties. Not so much of a problem in the summer when I’m active after work, but not great at this time of year so I’m considering just having yogurt/fruit/seeds in the evening and having my main meal (big salad or soup) before meetings start around 1pm. I’d like to start doing a little bit of Pilates again too - I used to do an hour a day but stopped when Stinky arrived. He’s better at being left downstairs along now, so I should get back to it - if I can start doing a little between feeding time and getting dressed, and then maybe move it earlier to between getting up to let the animals out and getting up again to feed them, that should work. I can’t leave my mat etc out though, as the cats scratch it/cover it in muddy footprints.
Hopefully I’ll get confirmation today about when my neighbour will come and put the posts in on the patio. I must remember to double check the position/measurements.4 -
So after typing that, I got out of bed and did 15 mins of pilates in my PJs, then got dressed and took Stinky for a nice long walk. I thought Redo was 100k steps ahead of me this month so went the long way round... and then my watch started to sync about a week's worth of activity so I'm almost caught up 🤣. We still had a long walk.
DW is on (despite the lack of solar generation) so fingers crossed it gets through the complete cycle this time. If it does, I'll ignore the problem for a bit longer. If it doesn't, I'll have to decide whether to swap with the other one or get the repair guy out - I suspect the latter, as keeping this one going is probably the best option.2 -
We are currently 7.5k apart and everything to play for. Maybe I should get off my backside and do something?
