Morning HHD
Well done on finishing the assignment, you'll be qualified in no time which hopefully, will lead on to a nice job for you.
I'm not sure any parent ever stops worrying about their children but knowing DS can physically look after himself must help. DD randomly said she was going back packing this summer and when I asked who with she replied, nobody, just me.:eek: Thankfully, she's got a job interview this week so I'm hoping she gets it so she has to stay put :rotfl:
Have a lovely day. xx
Thanks TF2. I would be more worried about a daughter travelling alone, but having said that plenty of women do it and are perfectly fine. They need to be careful and aware of the dangers. Anyway fingers crossed she gets the job
.
I can understand that you're feeling anxious about your DD's possible plans. I went backpacking in the 70s with another girl and we went all over Europe without mishap, often to some quite 'uncivilised' locations. We hitch-hiked a lot and I've hitched several times on my own usually in UK. We never came to any harm or were ever intimidated or scared in any way. Sadly, I wouldn't want to risk it nowadays (if I was the age to do it of course). As a female I definitely wouldn't do it alone unless I planned to join up with a group of others along the way. I didn't intend to alarm you about your DS, HH, as I don't thing men travelling alone have the same worries.
Looking forward to a nice 'payday' tomorrow as I'm co-manning a Polling Station for the European elections. All the elections we've had recently have built up my savings pot very nicely:j. Really long days though and pretty boring as turnout has been low but I don't mind being bored once in a while if I'm getting paid handsomely for it:rotfl:. Not sure what to expect tomorrow, either a long day with barely a voter or we'll be rushed off our feet with all the protest voters who don't normally bother to turn out.
I can recommend everyone registers with their local council whenever an election is in the offing. Lots of different roles and the pay is worth having.
It is a bit safer for a man I think. I know that theoretically you can get into trouble anywhere if you're not careful, but South America does seem more dangerous than some places. But I think DS2 is quite careful. I'm bound to worry a bit until he gets back. Worry seems to be a permanent state of mind for me at the moment unfortunately.
That sounds like a good way to earn some money, although it would be bound to clash with my lunch time job. Who knows how many will turn out. I must remember to vote! Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

When HH was talking about banking the coins from her savings jars I think I mentioned that I used to save £2 coins back in the pre-debt days when I actually had spare money. Now I'm debt free again I was spurred into action by HH's example and dug out my old £2 jar from the shed. Weirdly, when I was out shopping yesterday (using cash for a change rather than my contactless debit card) I came home with four £2 coins in my purse:eek:. Has made a nice start to my savings jar. If I can manage it I'll not open it until the end of the year when the contents should be really usefull:j
£8 is a good start Noella :T. I only save coppers and 5p so it takes a long time to build up :rotfl:.Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

Happy Wednesday !
Thanks Elizabeth. My tutor replied to my email and said that she hasn't been able to mark it yet and needs an extension. At least I know what's happening, anyway!

I volunteered this morning as I'm busy tomorrow and did my lunchtime job as usual. I had to do some extra running around today making sure that certain children were in certain places at certain times, I thought I'd have to split myself in two at one point :rotfl:. So I think I should have got paid by the mile today :rotfl:. But it's good to be useful.
This afternoon I feel quite tired so maybe it's because of all the extra walking. It was a warm day too, so I may have got a little dehydrated.
DS2 is packing. He transferred four fifths of his money out of his current account (I know!) and into his savings account today, as it didn't seem safe having ALL of his money in his current account when abroad, especially in South America. So now if his card gets skimmed there's a limit to how much they could steal. He's still got plenty left and money gets paid in continually from his earnings. I'm very pleased he's put most of his money in savings as he can earn interest on it now.
As luck will have it DS2's coach leaves when I'm at work so I won't be able to see him off at the coach stationbut at least I can spend time with him before he leaves in the morning. I'll probably feel more settled once he's left in a way, because it's out of my hands then.
I've done a few surveys but I'm not close to cash out on any of them. PA seems very quiet at the moment.
I'm looking forward to pay day on Saturday :j and hopefully the money will be in my account on Friday night.
I've put some laundry on to wash, folded up the clean laundry from yesterday and emptied the kitchen bins.
I hope eveyone is having a good Wednesday.

Sounds like DS2 is a sensible lad with the money situation when travelling. People need to be so vigilant these days and it certainly looks as if he's well prepared and safety-conscious. I'm pleased he's started saving but if he's been making a tidy income for a while he should have done it sooner. Never too early to get into the svings habit though with the dire interest rates it's hard to get enthusiastic about saving. He must have caught the saving bug from you and your good example:beer:
It's a shame you won't be available to see him off on his coach but as you said you'll have the morning free to spend with him. I hope he has a wonderful trip. He'll be home before you know it and then, come the summer, you'll have all your sons at home:T. More work for you of course, plus expense, but I'm sure you wouldn't have it any other way.
Interesting that your tutor needs and extension because she hasn't done the marking yet:eek:. I wonder if she'd be amenable if her students asked for extra time to get an assignment done;)
Sounds as if you had a busy and tiring day but I know you like to be busy. It certainly stops our minds dwelling on upsetting and sad things. See if you can find a bit of time to relax this evening:beer:0 -
Thanks Noella
. DS2 is actually very frugal. He had a lot of money sitting in his current account believe it or not! Now most of it is transferred to his savings account, so he should get some good interest even with low interest rates! We've been telling him to put his money in a savings account for ages, but he wouldn't until now. Still better late than never. You can hardly call him a spendthrift can you? :rotfl:
It will be lovely to have all the sons home in the summer, although as you say the food and electricity bills tend to skyrocket .
Some people on my course are behind on their assignments and one hasn't even got a school placement last I heard! So I think I deserve an award for being up to date, even more up to date than the tutor it seems :rotfl:.Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

Hope you have a nice morning with DS before he leaves for his holiday.
Had to smile at your tutor asking for an extension - that's usually something students request

Well DS2 is off on his travels. We've prepared him as much as we can, so now we'll just trust his common sense to keep himself safe. He's quite an experienced traveller now which helps.
We went and voted together first thing, me, DH and DS2 (DS1 was still in the land of nod). Then I went to work and had a good time there.
After that we decided to do our Mr T shop in the store as we'd been so busy helping DS2 with travel related stuff that we hadn't had time to do our online order! We spent £69 on food (including a £5 off voucher), and £22 on storage boxes as I'm still detemined to carry on my de-cluttering mission over half term. So slightly over budget but then it's nine days since we last did our food shop so it could be a lot worse.
The house feels very quiet now as DS1 is out with friends and it's just me and DH at home, so it's peaceful but a slightly eerie silence that we're not used to :rotfl:.
I hope everyone has had a good Thursday.
