It's such a friendly school too. The head teacher met me in the corridor today and asked me how I'd got on and said they were very pleased to have me. She was probably just being polite but it made me feel good :rotfl:.Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

That makes all the difference, especially that the head took time to speak to you too, the school sounds fantastic. When I worked in the kitchen the head teacher there was too above herself to talk to the likes of us.0 -

What a shame
. I think I am lucky that it is a very friendly school. I've been volunteering for a year before I got this job and I haven't met a single person there who wasn't nice so far. I think the head teacher can set the tone of a school and if they're nice, then they employ nice people and create a good atmosphere from the top down. You are such a good example of why volunteering is a good way ‘in’ for groups of people who might not appear as attractive to employers as other groups (middle-aged employees like you and I for example)
I hope your new income allows a little saving. I have found small savings have helped me feel so much more secure. If you can start a ‘fun’ pot too, no matter how small it also helps to know you can access it when times are difficult, or even when they are not
I am so pleased for you.
Have a relaxing evening. You’ve earned it!If you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them

It's different every day but great fun, I can't believe I'm getting paid to do this
It's because you're the right person, that's why. It sounds hellish to me, so I'd be totally the wrong person. I think it's a special sort of privilege to get to do the job we would do for free, and get paid for it. When my girls were at playgroup, mums had to come in and help once a term. I dreaded it until I discovered I could do 'boring' jobs to help the playgroup staff (like cutting up huge sheets of paper into usable sizes) and that was really appreciated.
And utterly hilarious about the 3 boys who couldn't see the solution that any adult would think was staring them in the face !!0 -

Thank you
. I'm sure I wouldn't have got the job without doing the volunteering and I did worry that I was too old to be employable. So I'm really grateful to have it

Thanks you Elizbeth
. It does seem the right job for me. I find the children very amusing and also I like helping the ones who are upset and making them feel better. I'm getting better at being firm with the unruly ones too, although there aren't very many of those luckily :rotfl:.
Yes it was very funny that the three boys couldn't see the obvious solution, it wasn't rocket science :rotfl:.Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally
