I enjoyed my Saturday saunter. I met stepdad for coffee at Costalot and then wandered around the charity shops.

A dvd of 'It's A Wonderful Life' caught my eye. It included the colour and black and white versions of the film, plus a free poster and postcards for 99p. I thought that was a bit of a bargain :money:. Then I spotted two more dvds; 'Peter Pan' (Disney Classic) and 'Sleuth' with Michael Caine for 99p each. So I bought those too.

Then in D3benh@ms I saw three lovely mugs for half price or less and I asked for a further discount on one as it had a miniscule chip so I got another 10% off that one. Well if you don't ask you don't get ;) :money:.

So a bit of frittering but it could have been worse :o. £2.97 on the three dvds and £9 on the three mugs. DH wanted parcel tape, silver tape and sellotape, so £3 spent on those.

I spent a bit in Mr T too because I wanted bananas and margarine, DH wanted bagels, spinach and crisps and DS1 wanted chocolate and paracetamols. So £6.26 spent there.

Stepdad paid for coffee and I spent £2.40 on the bus. So a slightly spendy day but it could have been worse, and I love the mugs and dvds :).

  • Thanks Nicnak :). It's going okay with stepdad (as long as he doesn't compare his new lady with my mum). I want to keep the relationship going. He seems genuinely pleased about my new job.

We're all going out for a family walk tomorrow so that should be interesting .

Hope the family walk goes well.
I would have very mixed feelings.

  • Oh well done and congrats on the job Hairy!:j. As others have said this could open a whole new world for you. I know a future TA post has been memtioned but do you think full teacher training would be a possibility - perhaps with primary school children as you get on with them so well? I have never worked in the education sector so know nothing on how employment here works but you have a degree from uni so you seem eminently qualified if you want to go for it.

And pleased to hear you treated yourself today. :j

You're bound to feel rather emotional on the family walk tomorrow. But I hope all goes well.

Thanks Beanie :). I didn't really want to go, but if I didn't go I'd miss seeing my little nephews who I hardly ever see.

Thanks SSG I am very pleased :).

Teaching would be better paid, but I'd have to do my GCSE maths and then do a one year full time PGCE course and I'm going to be 55 next month. I feel like I'm running out of time. Also teaching would be more stressful and longer working hours. So I think TA would be a good option and still play to my strengths :).

    .

Hope the walk goes smoothly - I'll keep my fingers crossed for pleasant weather.

I had such an exciting thing happen today regarding DGS. When told by his Mum (DD2) to say goodbye, he ran back in the house for a kiss and hug - first time ever !!! You can't imagine how thrilled I was.
It sounds such a little thing, but although I always put him in his car-seat and kiss him goodbye, he's NEVER run to me before. I really felt all warm inside.

So, yes, going on the walk will be worth it to see your nephews - they grow up so quickly, you'll never regret the time you set aside to spend with them.
