I know it's not a huge amount of money but I'd pretty much convinced myself I was unemployable because I've been out of the work place for twenty five years (self employment doesn't count :o) and I'm going to be 55 next month.

So I'm really pleased to be offered a job :). Also it could lead onto other things, plus I enjoyed the trial as working with children is always fun, plus the money will be really useful :).

So it's good on so many levels :T.

You weren't unemployable at all, HH, just because you hadn't been employed by anyone other than yourself and DH. You'd already proved your personal qualities and diligence by your volunteering and then opting to do a related course. If the job is what I think it is then those qualities count for a lot. I think a more 'mature';) person is far better fitted for the role and often a much younger person applying for that job could be viewed as being just interested in it as a stop-gap and likely to quickly move on to something else. They want someone to be part of a happy and established team and you obviously have exactly the skills that they were looking for.
  • Thank you Carboot :).
