I enjoyed my volunteering this morning, but felt tired so I hope I'm not coming down with a cold .

My mission this afternoon is to take down ALL of the Chistmas decorations so that I don't have to do it at the weekend. I have a ton of other housework that I want to do on Saturday, and Sunday will be taken up with work for my business. so I want all the decorations taken down, packed away in boxes and in the void before dinner time!

I hope everyone is having a good Friday :).

The damp issue is a difficult one, it's a huge problem here. As I wiped the windows clear of condensation this morning I noticed that the wall around the bathroom window as quite wet too so I fetched the nice dehumidifier through and set it off. At some point a boy used the facilities and left the seat up so I have been dehumidifying the water in the toilet for most of the day!

Those pesky boys thwart all our efforts :rotfl:.

    Thanks MTG :).

Damp is such a problem :(. When we have a higher and more reliable income I'd like to have the heating on more, tumble all our laundry and run a dehumidifier. That would be good for the damp, although it wouldn't help the environment mind you.

Well I've taken down the big tree and packed it into it's box, which is the biggest job I reckon. I'm taking a rest now before I tackle phase two. If I can get all the living room decorations down today then that will be good, but I'd like to get all the decorations in the house down ideally.

I'm glad to pack Christmas away this year. I can't imagine where we will be in a year's time or how I will feel about Christmas then. I hope we'll have more money by next Christmas, but then I hoped the same thing last Christmas and we're actually worse off financially than we were last year :(.

Perhaps me (hopefully) getting a job this year will improve next Christmas. I will still feel sad to be having a second Christmas without my mum, but if we have more money then that will remove the stress about how to pay for it all.

  • All the decorations are down and packed in their boxes :T. It's a big job because we have a large tree and a small kitchen tree, lights around the ceilings in the living room, hall and kitchen, the wreath on the front door, the cards hanging on ribbons and a few bits in our home office to make DH feel Christmassy. It's a lot of effort to put it all up and take it all down again, and sometimes I do wonder why I bother, but DH and the kids love it.

I'm pleased to have got it all done today because I hate things being half done and I've got of other stuff to get on with at the weekend. I still need to tape up the boxes and get them in the void, but I'll do that before bedtime.

It feels like a psychological victory saying goodbye to Christmas this year, normally I feel a bit sad that it's over, but not this year :T.

You have handled Christmas very well.
I am sure you will have a job this year and at least financially Christmas 2019 will be easier :)

  • Thanks DIA I hope so :).

All the boxes are taped up and in the void now so I can put Christmas behind me. I didn't want the boxes lying around my room as a reminder, not to mention a trip hazard . DS2 saw me taking down the decorations and took the wreath off the front door without me asking him to. He is much more helpful than he used to be :).

I feel tired now but it's good to get it all done in one afternoon because now I can spend the weekend doing other things :T.

The living room looks more spacious without the tree, even with a rabbit cage and a clothes horse in it!
