Yay to You Gov money , new pyjama bottoms , socks and hopefully trousers and shoes .

The first Christmas is always the hardest , i am glad you managed to get through it in your own way . When my own brother died 25 yrs ago I lost about 2 stone , it stayed off for years. You can have some of my excess weight.!

I hope the plans for New Year happen, I will be in bed early as I dislike it intently due to always spending it with my brother.

Have a good day HH .

  • Thank you Cumbria :). New year's eve is definitely going to be challenging for me and I'll be glad when it's over. I've struggled with it for the past four years since my sister who lived locally died, and this year it will be much worse. I don't blame you for skipping it.

Hopefully once December is over I can focus on my goals for 2019. I only have one real goal and that is to get a job. Everything else will follow on from there as that will improve all other aspects of my life.

I'm sure you will get one, KC:j. You have the determination and drive to do it and the skills and personality (although I don't 'know' you I can just tell:)) to be a brilliant employee and colleague. We're all rooting for you:beer:. Now it's just a case of playing the waiting game until someone reads your CV and contacts you.

Glad to hear you survived Christmas. New Years is worse in my experience as you go into a new year without them. Could you get an early night and ignore the feeling you have to see the New Year in?

I lost a lot of weight when Mr SA was in hospital and things not looking good I had no appetite, I was light to start with so all my clothes dropped off me. It all balances out eventually, don't worry about it. On the plus side at least you're not the type of person who binge eats when upset.

Good luck with your 2019 goals and fingers crossed you'll get a job very soon. Oh wouldn't it be fab for you to have a steady income and some peace of mind :)

Thanks SA :). Going into a new year without my mum is the part I'm dreading most, so I agree that new year's eve will be the hardest :(. I don't think I could ignore it as I'll find myself obsessively thinking about it.

Luckily my aunt has got back to me and said that she and uncle can come on new year's eve :T. We have loads of food left and I thought we could perhaps play cards around the table after eating, which DS2 and DS3 might enjoy :). That should distract me from sad thoughts about missing my mum hopefully and I know my aunt misses her sister so maybe it will help her too

I've found that keeping my body busy just doesn't cut it. My sister cleans when things trouble her but it just doesn't work for me as I am still thinking of the things which are bothering me. But if I can keep my mind busy that is a much better option. I download games from a website that lets you play for either 1 or 1 & half hours free. So hidden object, match 3, solitaire, mosaic & many others (100s) total distraction & I can even fall asleep playing when having a really bad day/night. Never had any junk mail caused by them & certainly no security issues. I have good security (DS even more paranoid than me sees to that) & have never had one issue in the years I have been using it. I hope it isn't against this sites policy but as you do not ever need to pay I'll risk it BigFish. It really helps me turn my brain off from any problems.

  • So pleased to read you got through Christmas okay. I think I’ve just buried my head in the sand and somehow switched off my emotions which is a bit worrying. I guess Christmas was always a bit of a trial with being an only child and my Mum never seemed to enjoy it. I missed Dad of course but DH and I had a peaceful day with good food and wine followed by trashy TV and sleep.
I am apprehensive about New Year but looking forward to a New Beginning as you are too. I do think it is okay to feel sad and wish I could let myself grieve more.
    Take care HH x
