  • Thank you Cherry. A happy Christmas to you too. Watching Elf is making me feel sad at the moment. Probably because we used to watch it with my mum someetimes.

I'm lucky to have DH, DS1, DS2 and DS3 to spend Christmas with though.

I hope it hasn't been too hard without your mum and you were able to take comfort from having your 'boys' with you. At least it is over and next year won't be the first...
If you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them

I've been keeping myself so busy that I haven't had time to post. Christmas has been hard but I've survived it.

On Christmas eve watching Elf made me tearful because I'd watched it with my mum a few times, so we watched Die Hard 2 instead.

I felt very upset on Christmas morning, and DS2 and DS3 were still asleep. So DH, DS1 and I drove to some lovely woods nearby and went for a walk. We took milky coffee and hot chocolate in travel mugs. It was something I have NEVER done before on Christmas morning, which helped to change my mood. It was very peaceful in the woods and made me feel much better. I could have stayed there all day. Then we came home to find DS2 and DS3 had just emerged. We opened presents, had a very late dinner and all played games in the evening. So the day went as well as it was possible for it to do.

On Boxing day I felt very upset again in the morning, so DH suggested going to the shops. So we left at 9.30am and went to the shops, spent some Christmas money and vouchers in the sales and had coffee. Again this is something I've NEVER done before on Boxing day and this changed my mood again and made me feel much better. We came back just as the DC were emerging from their rooms, had another cooked lunch, and went to my aunt and uncle's house in the evening. My cousins and their families were there and it was nice to see them, but it felt very strange without my mum there. So again Boxing day went as well as it was possible for it to go.

I'm very glad Christmas is over, the next big hurdle is the new year :(.
