Hi everyone, another one here that doesn't do anything for new year. I reckon since I became an adult and can stay up til midnight any night I please it kinda lost its magic. I know it was fabulous when I was young and out on the town with all the excitement of the possibilities. Once I got my own house with dh(s) I have only stayed up once, at the millenium for a party at my brothers and even then I thought it wasn't worth all the fuss. To me it's just another Monday evening . Yes I get excited about the possibilities a new year will bring and there's a sense of a new beginning etc but really every day, week, month should be looked on like that and we should seize every moment. And you dont need to sit up till midnight for it to be a time of new resolutions and fresh resolves.
Xmas was a time for the hh family starting new habits and family traditions so new year can be too. One day the boys will be out the house living their own lives and you'd hate for them to feel they couldn't enjoy their lives, bet your mum wouldn't want you to be in a state.
It's just a night, like tonight, tomorrow night and last night, just a night.
Just my opinion, the way I live my life, if any of it is helpful then please use it for anyone struggling with meanings, if any of it offends or jars then please ignore.
Take care xxx

@Sally Grief doesn't always run to a set pattern and sometimes you feel upset when you don't expect it and are okay when you do expect to be upset. I'm glad you had a peaceful Christmas. Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

Hi Hairy,I'm glad you managed to get through Christmas Day ok,although it's tempting to do things the same way you have always done them it's often better to change to plan,so your Christmas morning walk in the Woods was a really good idea and maybe a new tradition you could adopt for future christmases,it's little tweaks like that that often make difficult times more bearableOriginal Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,736 Owed = £10,8940

@Daisy I know year's eve is just a night, but we celebrated it for years with my mum and stepdad. We used to alternate going to each other's houses and would stay up until midnight and watch the fireworks on the Thames and toast each other with sparkling wine, and talk about our goals for the new year. It was nice but I can't do that again this year.
I need to find a new way to spend it as I don't think I can just ignore it. This year aunt and uncle are coming and I will suggest card games after eating, which is different to what we used to do. I don't want to watch the fireworks as that will remind me of my mum. Next year, who knows.
Your input is always welcome Daisy.

Thanks OBL. The walk in the woods really did help and I would like that as a new tradition. We'll have to find things that work for us and we may think of new things in years to come, but this first year will have been the most difficult I know, so It's nice to have got Christmas over with at least. Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

We've spent all day working on my business which was a bit dull as it involved being in our home office all day, but it's done now.
It feels like a Sunday now but it's Friday, and so I'm going to go for my Saturday ramble tomorrow. I'll be glad to get out into the fresh air and get some exercise. Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

I tend to lose track of what day it is over an extended holiday period like Christmas. It's with the disrupted opening times of shops and businesses and the fact there's no postal delivery on certain days. Makes me feel like it's Sunday several days in the same week:rotfl:
I'm glad you got your business work done:T. Always nice to get the dull stuff done and dusted:j. Does that mean you'll be able to take Sunday off or will it be more of the same to get things done?
Enjoy your Saturday ramble. You may spot some really good bargains and the fresh air, bustle of other people and change of scene will do you good:beer:0 -
