HH sorry to hear you're feeling guilty over the mistakes with your mum. The thing is we're always taught to trust doctors & told that they must be right so a lot of people do suppress their instincts in similar cases.
However doctors are just people like the rest of us & I think everyone needs to feel more able to disagree with them. Easier said than done though.
I know when I was having DS & was transferred to consultant care halfway through my labour (I think my active labour was 16 hours & total labour was 48) as things stopped progressing & DS was in distress. I was completely relying on the doctors & midwives to make the right decisions. It was scary feeling so out of control as we were just told what was happening & I was so exhausted & out of it that I just signed what I was given.
I hope you can resolve these feelings in a way that helps you without upsetting your stepdad as that seems to be important to you. You do have a point in not wanting the same thing to happen to anyone else though.
Thanks Sashybo. You do feel helpless and out of control in hospita,l whether it's you or someone else who is there.
I'm going to leave it for now as I don't want to upset stepdad who is fragile at the moment. I'm feeling a bit emotionally fragile myself right now, so I think I need to put it out of my mind again for now and focus on more positive things.

I've emptied all the bins now and put the dishwasher on twice. The NSD didn't happen as I'd run out of hayfever tablets and DH wanted squeezable honey for his porridge .
This weekend is the wedding I can't afford to go to and that my mum was so looking forward to. I've found out my aunt and uncle weren't invited, and my niece who lives locally was invited to the evening but has decided not to go due to the expense of it. Apparently the only hotels near the venue charge £135 per night . Stepdad is also not going, unless he changes his mind again! Anyway I'm glad we're not the only relatives not going.
I've been feeling pretty miserable all day, but I've been trying to think positive thoughts and get things done, so I am starting to feel a bit better.
My aunt and uncle suggested meeting me for coffee tomorrow which I'm looking forward to, although it means spending more money
. But I feel more cheerful when I see people.

HH, just regarding your hay fever tablets - we buy the generic ones in bulk online, usually somewhere like here.
I can usually find discount vouchers online or free delivery codes too, as well as getting cashback through quidco - just for future reference if it's any use. We find it works out cheaper, DH prefers the cetirizine tablets rather than loratadine but I think they're much of a muchness. Think loratadine is the active ingredient in Clarityn & the cetirizine is the active ingredient in another branded hayfever tablet.
Of course, after all that you might actually already know this. :rotfl:
Enjoy your coffee with your aunt & uncle tomorrow.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Car loan 1 £10,546, Car loan CC 0% BT £5200. Debt Free Diary to try & keep spending in check.0 -

Thanks Sashybo. That is definitely cheaper than I paid. I don't buy branded ones but I paid about £1.80 for 14 cetirizine in Mr M earlier. I'll order them from that website another time.
