    Thanks SSG and Beanie.

I only left the house once today to collect DH's mask from the hospital (hopefully he'll sleep better tonight) and to top up our bread and milk supplies. Apart from that I've been gardening, washing clothes, emptying bins and finding more photos of my mum for my album.

Since DS2 has been back the toilet roll supply is disappearing faster and the washing pile keeps growing (it takes him weeks to unpack fully). The house and garden are definitely looking better than they have for years, but then I've never taken this long off work before.

Tomorrow we have to go to another town for an appointment DS1 has. We thought we'd make a day of it as we haven't been there since last summer and it makes a change to go somewhere different. Then we'll do our food shop on the way home. So an earlyish start tomorrow.

  • Thanks SSG.

We went to DS1's appointment then wandered around the shops for a bit. We took sandwiches and bananas with us so only had to buy a couple of drinks, plus petrol and parking. We did our food shop on the way home, which was on budget. We didn't get home until 7pm so I started cooking straight away.

I don't feel tired even now, I'm full of nervous energy at the moment. DH is tired and sitting under a blanket at the moment, but hopefully he'll be okay after a night's sleep.

  • Thanks Purplemum and Beanie.

I felt like I had a good day yesterday but at bedtime I suddenly felt awful :(. I think it was a combination of factors. The town we went to was one where I had memories of going with my mum and I kept seeing places that triggered memories. Then on the way home we needed to do our food shop. We were driving past the supermarket I used to go every week with my mum. It seemed silly to go somewhere else and I thought I'd need to face it sometime. But I think I underestimated how upsetting it would be to go there without her. At bedtime I suddenly felt really upset and unconsolable about not having my mum. DH tried to comfort me but sometimes nothing helps.

Anyway I feel better this morning, I guess sometimes you just have to go through it and come out the other side. I think it didn't help that DS1 is going to stay with a friend for four days today and DS3 is going to uni in two and a half weeks.

Anyway I need to try and be stronger. I feel shattered this morning so I won't go out but will change and wash all our bedding and do other chores. I had some ideas about friends and relatives I could arrange to see in the coming weeks as I think I need more social contact to help me get over my mum.

Anyway sorry to moan, I'm surprised anyone still reads my diary.

Today should be a NSD anyway. It's actually our 32nd wedding anniversary today, but as we went for a meal with friends on Monday and did some spending yesterday we feel like we can't afford to celebrate today, plus I look all puffy eyed and awful today. So we're going to delay our celebration for a bit. I feel sorry for DH having to live with me at the moment :(.

Tomorrow I'm going for a walk on Dartmoor with my stepdad and DS3 so I'm looking forward to that.

First of all, big congratulations to you and DH on your wedding anniversary:beer:. It's a pity that you're going through such a sad and emotional time just now but it must be a source of joy that you and DH have weathered life's storms together and have such a strong and loving bond. I hope when you do get to celebrate it will be a really good one:beer:

I know what you mean about DH's efforts to comfort you not being successful. Dealing with other people's grief is such a hit and miss thing. No one reacts the same or feels the same. there's no 'one size fits all', it's always just a case of playing it by ear. Bless him for trying though. He sounds like a lovely man, especially as he isn't well at the moment.

Don't be surprised that we read your diary. I for one feel I really know you and am cheering you on to overcome any obstacle to happiness that life puts in your way. You're an inspiration to a lot of us, don't forget that:A. You're not moaning, just describing the emotional rollercoaster that you're on just now. You've had a massive shock and it's perfectly natural to feel all over the place. I hope you know that we're all here to try to help you through the worst times. I know we can't really do much but we can offer an ear whenever you need it:kisses3:
